Urban Planning and Design
The Irvine Company’s Urban Planning & Design Group (UP&D) oversees innovative community planning and architecture for the company’s residential communities, office, resort and retail properties throughout California. UP&D’s comprehensive team of architects, planners and landscape designers is led by Group Senior Vice President Robert Elliott.
The team’s goal is to ensure that the design and development of all projects remain true to the company’s unsurpassed commitment to quality, in which all elements of a project—from office complexes to entire residential communities—are designed to work in harmony with each other. The group is guided by the following objectives:
- Every project, while having its own distinct personality, is designed to complement community-wide planning and design goals and to reflect a balance between site planning, civil engineering, landscape and architecture.
- Residential areas are planned as “villages” with distinct characters and identities.
- Structural and landscape architecture are seamlessly interwoven to create an aesthetically pleasing sense of place. Landscape creates space and character and should reinforce the site plan. Architecture is historically inspired, creating a timeless feeling and reflecting the highest level of design integrity.
