IRVINE, Calif. (Dec. 5, 2016) — The forecast on Saturday, Dec. 10 calls for 100-percent chance of snow at Irvine Spectrum Center.
“We’re bringing a special day of snow-packed action to Irvine Spectrum Center this year with the help of the team from Active Ride Shop,” said Easther Liu, chief marketing officer for Irvine Company Retail Properties. “Nothing says the holidays like a little snowfall and we’re thrilled to make it happen.”
Beginning at 6 a.m., 20 tons of ice blocks will be shaved into soft mounds of snow for the event. One side of the snow area will be reserved for younger children and toddlers to get a feel for gliding on snow. Active Ride Shop team members will assist the youngsters as they stand on small boards with leashes and gently lead them across the snow. In another area, older children will be able to enjoy two snow-covered ramps and rails.
From noon to 4 p.m., children will have the opportunity to learn how to snowboard on real snow. Snowboards and helmets will be provided on a first-come, first served basis.
In attendance will be the Anaheim Ducks’ mascot, Wild Wing, the Power Players and Street Team. The event will take place in Edwards Court, near the Christmas tree.
