At the End of the Bend, Discover Portola Springs in Irvine

Sometimes you discover what you’ve always wanted, where you least expect it! That’s how homeshoppers feel when they first encounter the Irvine village of Portola Springs®.

“Right about where the new 133 and 241 toll roads meet, north of the I-5 Freeway, something very special is happening,” said Suzanne Maddalon, senior director of marketing and research for Irvine Community Development Company, an affiliate of The Irvine Company LLC. “If you head east on Portola Parkway from Sand Canyon, suddenly you’ll find Portola Springs. It’s the community you’ve been dreaming about – at the end of the bend, tucked away and set against the striking Lomas Ridge. It catches you by surprise and takes your breath away!”

According to Maddalon, countless homeshoppers have shared this experience; and they discover Portola Springs, no other place will do.

“This new Irvine village is like a gem waiting to be uncovered,” she said. “Portola Springs offers a lifestyle to treasure, surrounded by more than 20 miles of scenic trails and pathways to take you all around the village and back home again. Yet this picturesque environment is close to all the city necessities, so it truly provides a best-of-both-worlds living environment.”

The Portola Springs trails that meander here and wander there invite residents to relax, re-energize and explore on foot or bicycle. Some are paved and some are more rustic, and there are even a couple of trails ideal for horseback riding.

“One of the village’s most popular trails winds its way to the spectacular Lomas Ridge,” said Maddalon. “Others lead to colorful destinations like Tomato Springs, a riparian habitat, and the beautiful Jeffrey Open Space Trail, a 325-foot-wide, 117-acre public corridor that connects the northern and southern open space areas of The Irvine Ranch®. Just imagine having access to all these wonderful places to explore practically right outside your front door! What a great way to mix and mingle with nature and your neighbors.”

In Portola Springs, it’s easy to get to know your neighbors – along the trails, in the parks or by the pools.

The perfect backdrops for summer fun, Portola Springs’ family-friendly Silverado Park and Lomas Valley Park each offer a Junior Olympic-sized swimming pool, children’s wading pool, bubbling spa, poolside cabanas, shade structures, and barbecue/picnic areas. Residents love hosting birthday parties, family reunions and other private gatherings in the parks’ spacious community buildings.

Additional facilities at Silverado Park include a basketball court and tennis courts, while Lomas Valley Park features a half basketball court, open play turf and play structures designed for ages 5 through 12.

Additionally, four other parks are open in Portola Springs, offering more tennis courts, play lawns, barbecue areas, and imaginatively designed playgrounds for different age groups.

“Only a little over a year since the Portola Springs grand opening, the community already has so many places for residents to socialize and enjoy outstanding recreational facilities,” Maddalon said. “It’s quite a marvel, this tucked-away Irvine village!”

Portola Springs is planned to have a total of 18 neighborhood parks, a 25-acre community park with lighted athletic fields, and an 18,000-square-foot multipurpose building.

It’s not all recreation and relaxation at Portola Springs – education is a key ingredient, too. Portola Springs residents enjoy the educational excellence of the Irvine Unified School District. Plus, convenient down-the-street shopping is available at Woodbury Town Center, and Irvine Spectrum Center® is located only an exit away off the I-5 Freeway. Employment centers, John Wayne Airport, UC Irvine, and numerous cultural and arts destinations are also nearby.
