Catch the Waves! Woodbury Swim Team Off to Fantastic Start

Some specialize in the breaststroke or butterfly, others prefer the backstroke or freestyle, and some excel in all of the above! The Woodbury Waves swim team from the village of Woodbury is off to a fantastic start, with the final meet of its inaugural Irvine Swim League summer season only a week away.

“It’s been quite a summer for the Woodbury Waves!” said Kevin Chudy, general manager of the Woodbury Community Association. “As new people move in and the team grows, members have worked hard to improve their individual strokes, joined together for relays, enjoyed the spirit of competition, and had lots of fun along the way. Through activities like the swim team, Woodbury children and parents alike are getting to know their neighbors and having a ball!”

The village of Woodbury is already home to hundreds of new families. And, with new homes now available for sale, the village is progressing and becoming all it was envisioned to be.

According to Chudy, the Woodbury Waves team benefits from an exceptional “home” pool, a state-of-the-art Junior Olympic-sized swimming pool at The Club in the Irvine village of Woodbury. The site of both practices and team-hosted meets, this outstanding facility has a grass seating area for spectators.

“When you live in Woodbury, The Club’s resort-caliber recreational and social facilities are at your disposal every day,” Chudy said. “Available exclusively for residents’ use, the wonderful pools, sport courts, play areas, gathering centers, and much more provide diverse backdrops for neighborly interaction.”

In addition to the Junior Olympic-sized pool, The Club features a resort pool and spa with cabanas and barbecues, as well as a lagoon pool with a “beach entry” that offers a children’s water garden and wading pool.

Also part of The Club is a lighted basketball court with gated entry, four lighted tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, sunny courtyards and other social seating areas including a fireplace, ideal for outdoor events. The Club’s two multi-purpose buildings, one with a catering kitchen, provide great places for Woodbury residents to host their own private parties and family get-togethers.

The private facilities of The Club are part of The Commons, the 30-acre heart of Woodbury. The ten-acre Woodbury Community Park, a City of Irvine public park, occupies another portion of The Commons. This park includes a soccer field, two baseball diamonds, two lighted full-sized basketball courts, a tot lot, picnic tables, play areas, and a community center building staffed by city parks personnel.

Woodbury families are eagerly anticipating the fall opening of The Commons’ third and final component, Woodbury Elementary School. This new state-of-the-art educational facility will be part of the highly regarded Irvine Unified School District.

Complementing The Commons, Woodbury is planned to have 14 other parks, squares and gardens that will be interwoven with the neighborhoods in the various residential districts. Several of these are already open for residents to enjoy.

Another aspect of the incredible Woodbury lifestyle is everyday convenience to a wealth of shopping, dining and entertainment options beginning with Woodbury Town Center, located just down the street. The variety of shops and services includes everything from groceries, home improvement, office supplies, and chic apparel to banks, medical offices, hair and nail salons, and fitness and martial arts studios. The Woodbury Cafés is an inviting open-air courtyard setting with fountain, dining tables and grassy play areas surrounded by a wide range of restaurant choices.

Only a short drive away are the popular regional outdoor malls of Irvine Spectrum Center® and The Market Place. Both locations offer shops, restaurants, movie theaters, and other entertainment.

A wide variety of new homes is currently available in the charming Woodbury districts of Magnolia Square, Peppertree Square, Promenade Square, Cypress Square, and Laurel Square.

Each with its own signature architectural and landscape palette, these districts offer a selection of attached and detached homes. Sales are underway in the following neighborhoods, with prices starting from the low $400,000s.
