Del Frisco’s Grille To Open Its First O.C. Location This Summer At Irvine Spectrum Center

Award-winning Restaurant Invites Guests to Meat Up, Drink Up with its Contemporary Menu of American Classics and List of Playful Libations

IRVINE, Calif., July 2014 — Texas-based Del Frisco’s Grille is bringing its award-winning concept to Orange County this summer and will make its debut at Irvine Spectrum Center on August 9. Taking the classic bar and grill to new heights, Del Frisco’s Grille is known for its bold flavors and market fresh ingredients evidenced in its menu of updated American classics for lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch.

“We’re very excited to introduce our concept to Orange County,” said Mark S. Mednansky, CEO of Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group. “Del Frisco’s Grille is a dress up or dress down kind of place where you’re welcome to come as you are for a casual meal or a prime steak dinner. We want our guests to have a fun and memorable dining experience.”

The restaurant, built from the ground up and located adjacent to Nordstrom, boasts warm wood accents, acoustic panels embellished with brass beads, and clusters of glass bulbs that illuminate muted brass fixtures. Beyond the threshold is a striking “glass box” entryway that dramatically showcases the superb collection of wine.  Spanning 8,000 square feet with a guest capacity of 290 for both indoor and outdoor seating, Del Frisco’s Grille also includes a collection of ample-size booths, tables and communal seating set in an open and lofty space. An industrial curtain of steel mesh divides the island bar from the main dining room. With plenty of seating at the island bar, guests can belly up for a complete meal and signature cocktail or opt for a table on the spacious open-air patio warmed by a striking outdoor fireplace.  The Sun Room, an alcove located just off the main dining room, is bathed in natural sunlight by day with ambient lighting illuminating the space in the evening, and provides an exceptional backdrop for lunch, dinner or brunch. A more intimate dining nook, inspired by the popular chef’s table concept, is located directly off the kitchen and offers an intimate space for special occasions.

Behind the kitchen door is Juan Carlos Murillo, a veteran Orange County chef, who began his restaurant career in 1997 just a few miles away. Chef Murillo and his staff will present a  menu of appetizers and shareable plates including Cheesesteak Eggrolls, Ahi Tacos and Fire Roasted Artichoke with Meyer Lemon vinaigrette, parmesan and black pepper aioli. The Jumbo Lump Crabcake is mostly all crab and very little cake served with a Cajun lobster sauce. A selection of flatbreads  include the Wild Mushroom with caramelized onions, Fontina cheese, and baby arugula; and Pepperoni and Sausage topped with mozzarella and fresh tomato then dusted with parmesan cheese.  There’s also a selection of entrée-sized salads, a selection of modern comfort foods, including meatloaf made from veal with hand-mashed potatoes and wild mushrooms topped with a bordelaise sauce as well as the popular Steamed Brown Bag Fish served with local vegetables. Two-fisted sandwiches include the Cali Chicken Sandwich served on challah bread and topped with crushed avocado, lettuce, tomato and lemon-tarragon mayonnaise. A selection of burgers, fresh seafood and signature steaks wet aged for 28 days round out the menu along with a series of side dishes that includes a decadent Truffle Mac and Cheese.

“Guests are welcome to come in for a full meal or nothing more than dessert,” said General Manager Katie Pavkov, an Orange County native and alumna of Chapman University who recently returned to the region after spending 12 years managing restaurants in south Florida.  “And our desserts are rather amazing, too, from our Coconut Cream Pie and six-layer Lemon Doberge Cake to Nutella Bread Pudding with caramel sauce and Warm Chocolate Cake served with vanilla bean ice cream and raspberry sauce. They’re exceptionally decadent, which is how dessert should be.”

Sunday brunch, served until 3 p.m., features some morning favorites, including Red Velvet Belgian Waffle with whipped vanilla bean-spiked cream cheese and thick-cut hickory smoked bacon and The Grille Benedict with poached eggs, thinly-sliced French ham, and scallion and white cheddar biscuits topped with chipotle hollandaise sauce. Build-Your-Own Bloody Mary lets guests assume the role of cocktail impresario with an assembly of ingredients that includes house-made Bloody Mary mix presented in a glass milk jug along with Tito’s Vodka and a plate of garnishes for taste and presentation.

The Grille’s calling card is its toast-worthy wine, which includes some 300 regional and global vintages along with two taps at the bar, which will pour a white wine and a refreshing house-made sangria. Wine on tap is becoming increasingly more popular because it restricts oxygen from coming in contact with the wine, which keeps the notes more pure and crisp. Signature cocktails, with eyebrow-raising names, such as Apt 5D, Kilt Lifter and The Morning After, are handmade and muddled using fresh ingredients and creative pairings. The VIP is a Del Frisco’s Grille original made with sweet Hawaiian pineapple-infused Svedka Clementine Vodka. Those watching their waistlines can enjoy a Skinny Cosmo weighing in at a little more than 200 calories. The Adult Milkshake, a grown-ups only indulgence, is equal parts dessert and cocktail with Nocello Walnut Liqueur, Crème de Cacao Chocolate Liqueur, and vanilla ice cream.

This will be the second Del Frisco’s Grille to open in California and the first to debut in Orange County. The winner of Nation’s Restaurant News 2012 Hot Concept Award, Del Frisco’s Grille at Irvine Spectrum will open its doors to the public on Saturday, August 9 at 4pm. Del Frisco’s Grille at Irvine Spectrum Center, located adjacent to Nordstrom, is open for lunch Monday-Friday from 11am-4pm and until 3pm on Saturday with dinner served Monday-Friday 4-11pm, 3-11pm on Saturday, and 3-10pm on Sunday.
