Orange County, CA – September 16, 2013 – Style Week Orange County® returns to Irvine Spectrum Center® in Irvine and Fashion Island® in Newport Beach September 28 – October 5 with runway shows, in-store parties and fashion presentations to celebrate the best in O.C. style.
On-air celebrity fashion personality, designer and Project Runway alum Nick Verreos will again host one of Style Week OC’s most anticipated events at Irvine Spectrum Center, Cadillac Couture: Design Competition. Students from FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising will be challenged by Cadillac to create elaborate cocktail dresses inspired by Cadillac car designs and with actual Cadillac car parts incorporated into their designs in two separate runway competitions, the first at Irvine Spectrum Center at 7 p.m. Sept. 28 and the second at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 5 at Fashion Island.
Following the Cadillac competition at Irvine Spectrum Center will be a runway presentation to feature fall’s hottest looks from retailers such as Macy’s, MaxStudio, and Nordstrom. Fashion Island’s runway show at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4 will feature looks from Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, Halston Heritage, Vince, Trina Turk, Joie and Gary’s.
Other fashionable events throughout the week include pop-up style closets and trunk shows throughout Fashion Island, Irvine Spectrum Center and The Market Place to display the season’s best trends from various retailers including: Active Ride Shop, Foreign Exchange, C. Wonder, Kendra Scott, Uno de 50, Loehmann’s, Ann Taylor LOFT, White House I Black Market and Steinmart.
“This is our way of highlighting the talents of emerging new designers from the area and of course, to celebrate all the great fashion that’s right here in Orange County,” said Stacie Ellis, senior director of marketing for Irvine Company Retail Properties.
New this year will be a special beauty showcase at Irvine Spectrum Center featuring Cirque du Soleil’s head makeup artist, who will provide live demos and makeovers on how to create fall’s dramatic makeup looks.
All events and runway shows will be free and open to the public for viewing; tickets to a private FIDM benefit gala on Oct.5 will be available for $100 and can be purchased at www.FIDMmuseumshop.org. Proceeds will benefit the FIDM Museum Fashion Council and their planned acquisition of The Helen Larson Historic Fashion Collection.
Additionally during Style Week OC, shoppers may enter to win a $500 shopping spree at Fashion Island.
The sixth annual Style Week Orange County continues the tradition that Irvine Spectrum Center created in 2008, showcasing local emerging designers, notable style makers and fashion brands in Orange County. Past events have featured appearances by acclaimed designer Rachel Roy; celebrity personality Mario Lopez and celebrity designer and Orange County native Lauren Conrad.
