First-Ever Style Week Orange County Debuts at Irvine Spectrum Center

Irvine, California, July 8, 2008 – The fashion event of the year is coming to Irvine Spectrum Center when the first-ever Style Week Orange County™ debuts, September 8 through 13. Style Week Orange County will be an unprecedented six-day fashion event featuring runway shows, a House of Style fashion retrospective with archival displays and iconic style statements from FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising and center retailers, in-store designer appearances and trunk shows, and much more.

The fall collections from Nordstrom, Macy’s and H&M will be among the looks showcased. This salute to Orange County fashion influence will also feature an appearance by Lauren Conrad, popular star of The Hills, who will present the Lauren Conrad Collection holiday line with sophisticated and chic wardrobe essentials.

Style Week Orange County also marks the first participation in a fashion show for H&M since the international retailer held a fashion extravaganza for 850 people in Central Park in 2006. “H&M is excited to be a part of the first-ever Style Week Orange County, and Irvine Spectrum Center is a great place to showcase H&M’s latest fall fashions on the runway,” said Jennifer Uglialoro, an H&M spokesperson. “We love our Orange County shoppers, who are among our most fashion savvy customers!”

The week-long fashion event will feature six runway shows including:

  • Thurs., Sept. 11, 7 p.m. – Best of Macy’s
  • Fri., Sept. 12 at 7 pm. – Seventeen Fashion Show
  • Sat., Sept. 13, 3 p.m. – Marie Claire and H&M
  • Sat., Sept. 13, 5 p.m. – Spectrum Collection
  • Sat., Sept. 13, 7 p.m. – Nordstrom Fall 2008

Dozens of in-store events will take place throughout Style Week Orange County, including an appearance by Adam Saaks of Ed Hardy, who will custom create his signature “torn” t-shirts for customers at Metropark on Sat., Sept. 13 from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.; Olympic medalist and 2008 ESPY winner Gretchen Bleiler, who is launching a line she designed for Oakley on Sat., Sept. 13 from 2 to 3 p.m.; a Men’s Night at 18/8 Men’s Salon and Med Spa on Wed., Sept. 10 from 7 to 9 p.m. to include mini-manicures and other quick services, car display and cigars from Cuban Cigar Factory; and a weeklong series of DJ appearances and prize events at Active Ride Shop with a Tues., Sept. 9 Insight trunk show, an OBEY trunk show on Wed., Sept. 10, hair and makeup consultations on Thurs., Sept. 11 along with a “Style It” contest and on Friday, Sept. 12 an Ezekiel After Party. The Buckle will host a weeklong Find Your Favorite Denim event with personal shopper assistance and a Thurs., Sept. 11 Friends and Family Night. Eilatan will present fashion and fun on Sat., Sept. 13 from 8 to 10 p.m. with a trend session and new fall collection of Creative Recreation shoes for men and women, music from LA’s hottest DJ, DJ DAX, prizes and refreshments.

New to Irvine Spectrum Center, lululemon athletica will host pre-store opening yoga classes and private shopping sessions, and in-store window acrobatic yoga demonstrations throughout Style Week. Additional Irvine Spectrum Center retail events saluting Style Week include a Metropark fashion show after party at 7:30 p.m. on Fri., Sept. 12 featuring a live DJ set and art demonstrations, appetizers and refreshments, and a goodie bag gift-with-purchase. Budding designers can show OC Style their way by entering the Roxy Design-a-Board contest at Quiksilver. The winning design will be featured in the House of Style and on a limited edition t-shirt.

Vans will present a DJ appearance and provide young filmmakers with a chance to document Orange County style through an event partnership with Freshi Films. Windsor fashion devotees will enjoy the Night with Windsor Fashion Experts with buyer-led trend sessions, makeovers, refreshments and a DJ appearance.
