Haggen To Open May 9 At Orchard Hills Shopping Center In Irvine

New West Coast grocery chain will offer one-stop grocery shopping experience

IRVINE, Calif. , April 13, 2015 – Haggen, the Pacific Northwest grocer known for its local and sustainable sourcing, continues its California expansion with the opening of its newest location at Orchard Hills Shopping Center in Irvine on May 9.

At 48,000 square feet, the store will offer enhanced, fresh, local offerings, homegrown quality and affordable prices, along with exceptional service and the same friendly faces that customers have come to know. As the existing Pavilions converts to a Haggen, employees will be invited to become Haggen employees.

The store plans to close at 6 p.m. on May 7 and open as a new Haggen the afternoon of May 9. The pharmacy will remain open during the conversion process starting late-morning on Monday, May 8.

“Haggen is a thoughtful company that’s committed to meeting the grocery needs of our Irvine neighborhood,” said Easther Liu, Chief Marketing Officer of Irvine Company Retail Properties. “They’ll be a great addition to Orchard Hills Shopping Center and we’re excited to be a part of Haggen’s California expansion.”

Haggen’s pledge to being local extends beyond its sourcing and into the communities around its stores. Haggen plans to partner closely with local farmers and producers to sell their products on Haggen’s shelves; with community members to give back through non-profit organizations; and small businesses to explore co-marketing programs.

“We’re excited about the changes we’re making to enhance these stores with more locally sourced food offerings, genuine service and homemade quality, and we’re confident customers will like the new look, convenience and value offered at our one-stop, full-service grocery destinations,” said Bill Shaner, Haggen CEO Pacific Southwest. “Haggen has built its 81-year-old business on providing excellent fresh produce and high quality meats and seafood. That focus will definitely be reflected in the new Irvine store and each of the 100 stores we’re opening in California, Nevada and Arizona.”

The Irvine Haggen location is one of the 11 stores opening in Orange County as part of its larger conversion of 83 stores in the first half of this year. Haggen has also selected Irvine for its Pacific Southwest headquarters as it continues its southbound expansion plan.

Haggen will open in the Pavilions location at 3901 Portola Parkway on May 9 in the Orchard Hills Shopping Center. For more information, please visit
