Henry’s Farmers Market in Tustin Offers Free Groceries on Opening Day, June 16

Henry’s Farmers Market, a 67-year-old family of 32 Southern California stores, is opening its newest location in Tustin on Wednesday, June 16, located at 3011 El Camino Real, at Jamboree Road, in The Market Place.

The store officially opens at 8 a.m., giving a pre-selected shopping bag of free groceries to the first 200 people who arrive (with no purchase necessary). “In these tough economic times, that’s sure to attract a good number of people who need some help,” says Janet Little, Henry’s Farmers Market’s nutritionist and spokesperson. In addition, anyone whose first or last name is Henry, with an I.D. form of proof, will receive a free sandwich from the deli section. Little adds, “We’re also really excited about giving away a Smart Car Fortwo Passion Coupe. The cute, little car has a retail value of $14, 635. Customers can just come into the new Tustin store to register, with no purchase necessary.”

Grand opening ceremonies take place at 7:45 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by the public and executives from Henry’s, as well as local civic officials, all with official proclamations and greetings.

Little describes shopping at the friendly, neighborhood Henry’s Farmers Markets as reminiscent of produce stands and corner butcher shops of the 1950s. Little says, “We’re proud to support local California area farmers, fishermen and suppliers whenever possible. This promotes sustainability and enables us to offer our customers the freshest and most practically-priced products available.”

“Henry’s has also always been devoted to partnering with nonprofit organizations in the community,” she adds. As a transitional store between farm and supermarket, Henry’s offers customers one of the largest full-service healthy-living departments around, that includes nutritional and natural body care products to fit every lifestyle.

Henry Boney established his family-owned business in 1943 in San Diego. Henry’s is now a favorite in Orange, Riverside, San Diego, San Bernardino and Los Angeles counties. Henry’s Farmer’s Market has been named the “best health food store,” “best place to buy produce,” “favorite natural food store” and “best value for quality food” in various consumer polls from local TV stations and newspapers, throughout Southern California.

Little concludes, “We’re looking forward to serving Tustin and Irvine area residents, as we continue our expansion in the Orange County area.”
