SAN DIEGO, May 13, 2014 — At the ninth annual San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) Energy Showcase event today, Irvine Company Office Properties was honored by SDG&E as the Energy Grand Champion for 2013 for its outstanding results in energy efficiency and conservation.
Irvine Company Office Properties was honored for enhancing its commitment to saving natural resources by implementing an energy savings plan that has resulted in substantial savings by providing energy-efficient workplaces for customers. The company saved 3.2 million kilowatts, 75 thousand therms and 19 million gallons of water in San Diego County in 2013.
The company, San Diego’s leading provider of office workspaces, conducted a heating, ventilation and air conditioning enhancement that included the installation of high-efficiency boilers, variable-frequency drives and an optimized control system. LED and low-watt fluorescent lighting was widely substituted for outdated lighting fixtures, and a new SDG&E sensor automation pilot program has been implemented for efficient lighting control. The company has seven electric vehicle charging facilities at its San Diego properties with plans to add four more in 2014 and six more identified for 2015-2016.
