The Irvine Company, an internationally renowned real estate development company known for its award-winning master-planned communities, its vast portfolio of high-quality investment properties and its leadership in conservation and natural resource management, this past weekend received four #1 rankings in the Orange County Register’s “Best of Orange County – 17th Annual People’s Choice Awards”. The honors include:
- #1 Best Apartment Community – The Village at Irvine Spectrum Center
- #1 Best Neighborhood Shopping Center – The Market Place
- #1 Best Place to Get Married – Pelican Hill Resort®
- #1 Best Movie Theatre – Edwards Irvine Spectrum 21 & IMAX
Each year, the Orange County Register surveys its readers on the places and people that make Orange County a great place to live. This year, tens of thousands of readers cast votes to determine the winners.
“Through its master-planned communities, the Irvine Company strives to provide premier properties and outdoor places that contribute to Orange County residents’ high-quality lifestyle and surroundings,” said Smooch Repovich Reynolds, Senior Vice President of Irvine Company Corporate Communications. “We’re pleased that the special places we’ve created on The Irvine Ranch, from our shopping centers to our apartment homes, continue to resonate so favorably with so many residents.”
The Village at Irvine Spectrum Center
In naming The Village at Irvine Spectrum Center Orange County’s best apartment community, residents cited its spacious, amenity-rich, resort-like ambiance and its close-to-it-all location. “The Village is attractive to a wide range of residents, because it truly delivers on the ‘live-work-play’ lifestyle that growing numbers of county residents are looking for,” said Kevin Baldridge, Executive Vice President of Irvine Company Apartment Communities.
“It’s in the heart of Irvine Spectrum, one of the nation’s largest job centers. And by merely walking across the street, our residents can enjoy Irvine Spectrum Center with its hundreds of stores and restaurants. The Village apartment community itself offers more than 1,500 units, inclusive of an onsite Starbucks, deli, gym, meeting rooms and other services.”
The Market Place
Since it opened in 1988, The Market Place has stood as one of Southern California’s most iconic open-air shopping centers – known equally for its distinctive architecture, bold color scheme and its vast lineup of stores, restaurants and services that cover 165 acres. “If you can’t find what you’re looking for at The Market Place, there’s a good chance it doesn’t exist,” said Keith Eyrich, President of Irvine Company Retail Properties. “The center’s huge selection is a magnet for shoppers who come virtually from all over Orange County.” Eyrich said the center’s convenient location – at the Santa Ana (I-5) Freeway and Jamboree Road in Irvine and Tustin – also contributes to its popularity.
Pelican Hill Resort®
The Pelican Hill Resort® opened in November 2008, but in less than two years the Andrea Palladio-inspired resort has gained acclaim as one of the most beautiful and luxurious resorts in the world. Perched on more than 504 acres with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, the AAA Five-Diamond Resort offers guests 204 bungalow guest rooms, 128 two-, three- and four-bedroom villas, 54 holes of Fazio-designed golf, 3 restaurants, a world-class spa and a 136-foot in diameter “Coliseum” pool. The resort features a dedicated wedding area, complete with an outdoor wedding rotunda, a bridal suite, chapel and wedding ballroom, all against the backdrop of sweeping Pacific Ocean views.
“Put it all together, and you’ve got the ingredients for an unforgettable, fairytale wedding,” said Ralph Grippo, President of Irvine Company Resort Properties. Orange County residents agreed, citing Pelican Hill’s remarkable setting, along with the level of service and attention it showers on brides and grooms, as reasons for choosing it as the best place to get married.
Edwards Irvine Spectrum 21 & IMAX
From its impossible-to-miss neon signs and 21 auditoriums, to its location in one of Southern California’s most popular shopping centers, Edwards Irvine Spectrum 21 & IMAX is many Orange County movie-goers’ go-to spot. In selecting it as the county’s best movie theater, they cited those features plus others, including “Dollar Popcorn Tuesdays,” open caption films for the hearing-impaired, special events such as live concerts and 3-D broadcasts, and access to Irvine Spectrum Center’s many stores and restaurants.
