The Irvine Company today announced that Fox Plaza, the internationally recognized office tower in Century City, has been honored with the Regional “The Outstanding Building of the Year” (TOBY) Award by the Pacific Southwest Region of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA). Fox Plaza was awarded the local TOBY Award from BOMA of Greater Los Angeles in October 2010.
TOBY Awards are considered the most prestigious and comprehensive programs of their kind in the commercial real estate industry. The program recognizes superior quality in office buildings and honors excellence in building management. During the competition, all facets of a building are comprehensively evaluated and entries are judged on building standards, community impact, tenant/employee relations, energy conservation, emergency preparedness, environmental initiatives and training programs for building personnel. Judges from the BOMA Pacific Southwest Region chose the Regional TOBY Award winners from a pool of 36 commercial properties that previously received a local TOBY Award in their division from BOMA chapters across California, Utah, Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico.
The TOBY awards are presented in a variety of categories based on building size and facility type. Fox Plaza received its award in the 500,000 to 1 million square foot category. As a regional TOBY Award winner, the Fox Plaza building is automatically qualified for the BOMA International TOBY Awards, one of the highest honors bestowed in the commercial real estate industry.
“We were thrilled and honored to receive a TOBY Award from the BOMA of Greater Los Angeles in October, but winning the award for the entire Pacific Southwest region is an extraordinary accomplishment,” said Doug Holte, president of Irvine Company Office Properties. “These awards directly reflect the talent, dedication and unwavering commitment to exemplary service of our entire extended team at Fox Plaza.”
The 34-story Fox Plaza building was completed in 1987 and contains 730,510 rentable square feet. One of the most highly desired corporate addresses in Los Angeles, the building is located on the world famous “Avenue of the Stars” in the heart of Century City and boasts a distinguished customer roster, including 20th Century Fox, Steptoe & Johnson LLP and AMC Entertainment. Its most famous customer was former U.S. President Ronald Reagan, who occupied the penthouse for over 10 years after his presidency. The Class A iconic building, designed by world-renowned Johnson Fain Partners, offers unmatched views in every direction, innovative interior workplaces, beautiful landscaping and a long list of on-site amenities. Fox Plaza’s proximity to world-class restaurants, shops, hotels and to the 405 and 10 freeways further contribute to its long regarded status as one of the finest office locations in Los Angeles and the Pacific Southwest.
