Irvine Spectrum Center Hosts Parade For Korean Special Olympics Team

The outdoor lifestyle and entertainment center will host a welcome event for athletes, coaches, staff and the community on July 22

IRVINE, Calif., June 2015 – This year, the City of Irvine has been selected to host the Korean delegation competing in the 2015 Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles. To support the team of 133 athletes, coaches and staff, Irvine Spectrum Center will kick-off the festivities, with a special welcome parade from 1:15 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 22.

The parade will begin in front of Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill and P.F. Chang’s China Bistro and end at Carousel Court. The community is invited to come out and show support for the Korean Team and the Special Olympics by cheering them on throughout the route.

The 2015 Special Olympics World Games will feature competitions in aquatics, gymnastics, track and field, basketball, soccer and many other summer sports involving 7,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities from around the world. The City of Irvine is one of 100 cities throughout Southern California to host delegations from around the world as part of the Special Olympics World Games.
