Irvine Spectrum Center Hosts The Give Event

Irvine Spectrum Center and Active Ride Shop are hosting The Give Event, an unprecedented local benefit concert for Costa Mesa-based Krochet Kids International as well as Friends of TOMS, on Saturday, July 18 at 5 p.m. This unique and fun-filled evening will take place in Giant Wheel Court, and feature some of Orange County’s hottest entertainment, all to benefit these two worthwhile causes.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. with a DJ spinning music, multiple stations with artists painting and customizing TOMS Shoes, and Krochet Kids will be on hand crocheting and creating custom patches to sew on hats. At 6 p.m. and throughout the evening, visitors can watch two 8 ft. by 10 ft. murals be painted by Los Angeles-based art crew, $tatus Faction, as well as individual artists. The murals will be available for purchase by silent auction at the event and then displayed at Active Ride Shop stores this summer.

The concerts are free with the purchase of TOMS Shoes or Krochet Kids apparel, or a suggested charitable donation of at least $2. The line-up will feature:

5:45 p.m.: VOiD808. Orange County’s best kept secret, VOiD808 offers a unique sound of piano-fronted modern rock.

6:30 p.m.: Pawnshop Kings. Born in Texas and raised on the beach in Southern California, this popular band plays music of the American South with equal parts rock, gospel, country and pop.

7:15 p.m.: Crash Kings. Hailing from a long line of musicians, brothers Tony and Mike Beliveau join Jason Morris for unique indie rock. The trio is based in Los Angeles and are already impressing reviewers and drawing crowds with their debut album released just months ago.

8:15 p.m.: The Daylights with Brent Kutzle. The Daylights are an Alternative / Rock / Indie band from Los Angeles, and will feature special guest and Newport Beach native Brent Kutzle of One Republic. Mixing indie rock with classical cello, The Daylights and Kutzle are influenced by everything from Elliott Smith to Chopin.

9:15 p.m.: Dustin Kensrue. Orange County native Dustin Kensrue is a solo artist as well as the vocalist, lyricist, and rhythm guitarist in the OC-based post-hardcore quartet Thrice. Kensrue shows his music versatility in his first solo album that combines classic folk with earthy blues, melodic country and deep soul.

With every pair purchased, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need. One for One.
