For George Linares, who has traveled the world, and his wife, Kristine, who has sung on Broadway and around the country playing the lead in “Miss Saigon,” there was never any doubt where they wanted to plant their roots – in the award-winning Irvine village of Woodbury!
Already in their second Woodbury home, now living within the neighborhood of Mille Fleurs by Standard Pacific Homes, the couple grew up in Irvine and attended Irvine High School together, even dating a little during their senior year. Now, as they prepare for the holidays with their young children, they both agree: “Why would we want to raise our family anywhere else but Woodbury?”
George operates his own home remodeling business as well as works with his father’s construction subcontracting business. Kristine is a private voice coach, using their home’s casita for conducting classes. She also directs two or three musicals a year at Woodbridge High School and occasionally performs in benefit concerts.
“This is it!” said Kristine. “We’ve found the perfect home and community at Woodbury, the place where we will see our family grow. This year, with our larger home, we even have two Christmas trees. I decorated the more formal one and took our children shopping for ornaments to decorate one of their own. They’re very excited for Santa’s arrival next weekend in Woodbury.”
Santa is scheduled to arrive at The Commons in Woodbury on December 15. In addition, the annual Woodbury Holiday Lighting Contest is underway with winners being announced on December 21.
Furthermore, many Irvine Ranch® residents are sure to enjoy tomorrow’s Menorah Lighting Ceremony at Fashion Island®. Plus, great Santa photo opportunities continue through December 24 at both Irvine Spectrum Center® and Fashion Island, with holiday carolers appearing at Fashion Island on weekend afternoons through December 23 and ice skating taking center stage at Irvine Spectrum Center.
“There are so many wonderful activities for families throughout the year in and around Woodbury and all throughout The Irvine Ranch, and it’s especially festive during the holidays,” said Kristine. “We go to Irvine Spectrum Center at least once a weekend for dinner, ice cream and to ride the carousel. I often take the children there for lunch and shopping during the week.”
The Linares family truly appreciates the incredible conveniences of living in Woodbury throughout the year.
“What sets Woodbury apart is how self-contained it is,” said George. “You don’t need to get on a major street to go anywhere around the community, whether you walk, bicycle or drive. We live right up the street from the brand new Woodbury Elementary School, and Woodbury Town Center is nearby, too. Woodbury is so conducive to family life with the school and all the parks, pools and shopping. Most important, it just feels safe here.”
Added Kristine: “We’re very happy in Woodbury. We enjoy all the smaller parks and walking the trails with our children in their stroller. The Commons is one big central meeting ground, and we spend a lot of time there, too. The children loved having my 30th birthday party at The Club’s water park and lagoon pool. With The Club, this is true resort living.”
Centrally located in the heart of Woodbury is the 30-acre Commons, home to the new state-of-the-art Woodbury Elementary School (part of the renowned Irvine Unified School District) and to the 10-acre Woodbury Community Park (a City of Irvine public park), as well as the exclusive Club.
The Club at The Commons is Woodbury’s private resort facility, complete with several pools and other outdoor gathering areas, numerous sport courts, two multi-purpose buildings for private gatherings, one with a full catering kitchen, and the Great Lawn for all types of village events and activities.
Plus, every Woodbury neighborhood is near a pool, park, inviting square, or quiet garden, so that there’s always a friendly place to go in Woodbury – even if you’re looking for your new home in this welcoming village.
