Luxury eyewear manufacturer Dita is set to open their retail concept store Dita Legends at Fashion Island this summer. This is only the second U.S. retail location for Dita, a brand favored by celebrities and other high profile stylemakers. The other U.S. location is on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, home of today’s most fashion-forward retailers.
Dita Legends will feature Dita’s sunglass and optical collection as well as select vintage frames from the company’s private collection. The boutique will also carry exclusive eyewear brands Oliver Goldsmith from England and Mykita from Germany. Plus every season Dita releases special eyewear collaborations with Japanese fashion brands such as Visvim, Hysteric Glamour and Neighborhood that are sold exclusively at Dita Legends.
The Fashion Island boutique will feature a modern design by Tag Front architecture firm, who also designed the store on Melrose. The contemporary store will have warm undertones and an open-air feel, giving the illusion of having no storefront or door, with the focus being on the product. The store will be located near the Iris Fountain.
Dita is based in Los Angeles and has international locations of Dita Legends in Japan and Hong Kong. The company was co-founded by Jeff Solorio and John Juniper, the driving forces behind Dita’s celebrated designs. Orange County natives and friends since grade school, Solorio and Juniper share a common passion for photography and design. Together they were inspired to capture their passions not just on film but in eyewear, leading to the first creative collection of Dita frames in 1996.
All Dita frames are handmade in Japan and use only the highest quality materials: titanium and the finest Japanese custom zyl acetates. Their optical frames feature custom designed titanium components and hardware with unique hex screws, which Dita has used to successfully modernize traditional rivet frame construction. In addition to Dita Legends, Fashion Island will also soon add Nordstrom, Dean & DeLuca and Trina Turk to its line-up of luxury and trend-setting designer stores.
Fashion Island, owned by The Irvine Company and located on the Newport Beach coast, is Southern California’s premier open-air luxury retail center. Fashion Island has nearly 200 unique and designer boutiques, restaurants and Orange County’s only Neiman Marcus, Kate Spade and Juicy Couture, as well as Bloomingdale’s, Bloomingdale’s Home Store and Macy’s. Nordstrom will open at the center in spring, 2010. For more information visit www.ShopFashionIsland.com.
