Math Monkey Knowledge Center has opened its first Orange County location at Trabuco Grove Shopping Center in Irvine. The facility is a mathematics enrichment center, using interactive games for children ages 5 to 14 to engage them and strengthen their math skills.
Classes at Math Monkey are limited in size and kids are grouped by grade and skill following a free initial assessment by accredited teachers. In addition to traditional methods, Math Monkey teaches Vedic math, an Indian system that makes it possible to solve mathematical problems mentally.
Unlike other learning facilities, Math Monkey doesn’t focus on remedial students, but rather students who are at grade level and want to improve their skills.
Math Monkey is owned by Dennis McKown, a 35-year resident of Irvine.
“Irvine is known for its world-class schools and as a parent who raised two children in Irvine, I know the importance of strengthening and reinforcing math skills,” said McKown. “The Math Monkey method is a proven curriculum that boosts logic, reasoning, critical thinking skills, and even confidence, so kids can reach their full potential.”
Math Monkey is open Monday through Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m., and Friday and Saturday by appointment. In addition, the facility is currently hosting free demonstration classes every Saturday at 2 p.m. for parents and children to experience the Math Monkey method.
