Adding to University Center’s diverse dining lineup, Mendocino Farms and Eureka will join other new restaurants such as Tender Greens and Yushoken
IRVINE, Calif., September 2014 – Mendocino Farms, the Los Angeles-based artisanal sandwich shop committed to sourcing seasonal ingredients from local Southern California farmers, is slated to open at University Center early-to-mid 2015.
The Mendocino Farms menu includes signature sandwich favorites such as the Pork Belly Banh Mi, a playful reinterpretation of the Vietnamese classic made with rich, caramelized Kurobuta Pork Belly, bright pickled daikon and carrots, cilantro and fresh jalapeño on toasted ciabatta and the Not So Fried Chicken, a lighter version of a cold fried chicken sandwich with shaved free range chicken breast, Mendo’s krispies (which mimic a crunchy fried chicken buttermilk batter), herb aioli, juicy tomatoes, pickled red onions and mustard pickle slaw served with a side of housemade barbeque sauce.
“We’re welcoming several exciting new dining concepts to University Center,” said Stacie Ellis, senior marketing director for Irvine Company Retail Properties. “Mendocino Farms is one of L.A.’s most popular artisanal sandwich shops and Eureka! specializes in all-American crafted fare with a full bar – these, along with Tender Greens, Yushoken and Blaze Fast Fire’d Pizza, means that diners can look forward to even more delicious choices when they visit.”
Opening in fall 2014, Eureka! brings its all-American cuisine along with a carefully curated beverage program featuring all-American craft beer, small batch whiskey, in-house aging barrels and specialty cocktails sourced from artisans throughout America. Menu highlights include the Osso Buco Riblets with sherry braised pork lightly tossed in a fire cracker aioli; Fresno Fig Burger with homemade fig marmalade, melted goat cheese, crispy bacon, garnished with minced tomato, onion, and arugula, along with a dollop of spicy porter mustard; Watermelon Salad featuring quinoa, diced cucumber, tomato and zucchini, chopped walnuts, dried cranberry, red bell pepper julienne, carrots, drizzled with balsamic lemon dressing, garnished with feta cheese, and watermelon spears; and Goldengate Butterscotch Rum Pudding served with a homemade whipping cream, caramel sauce and sea salt for dessert.
Tender Greens, known for its locally-sourced and sustainable fare in a modern, fast-casual setting, recently opened its second Orange County location at University Center. Following a successful debut at Irvine Spectrum Center, Tender Greens brings its market-fresh favorites such as grilled Backyard Steak salad with golden beets – to its wildly popular Buttermilk Fried Chicken salad – all for $11 and under.
