Minamoto Kitchoan Brings Japanese Confections To Fashion Island

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., April 2014 – Opening at Fashion Island in June, Minamoto Kitchoan will introduce traditional Japanese confections to Newport Beach shoppers.

Founded in Japan in 1947, Minamoto Kitchoan has created traditional “wagashi” or Japanese sweets for its U.S. customers for decades. From everyday sweets such as dorayaki (a pancake sandwich filled with azuki red bean paste) and daifuku (glutinous rice cake filled with azuki red bean paste), to elegant seasonal delicacies, Minamoto Kitchoan’s authentic wagashi confections are renowned for their artful presentations as well as for their taste.

“Minamoto Kitchoan has been expanding globally and we are thrilled to introduce Fashion Island shoppers to traditional Japanese wagashi,” said Shinichi Watanabe, spokesperson for Minamoto Kitchoan. “We hope that everyone will be able to experience the beauty and heart of Japan through our confections.”

This will be Minamoto Kitchoan’s 22nd location, adding to its collection of sweet shops in San Francisco, New York, London, Singapore and Taipei.

Minamoto Kitchoan will be located next to Brooks Brothers, near Nordstrom. For more information, visit
