Seattle’s popular fast-casual pizza concept expands to Southern California
IRVINE, CA (December 2013) – MOD Pizza, the pioneer of the “build-your-own-pizza” concept, brings its fast-casual pizzas to Orange County when it opens Wednesday, December 18th at Westpark Plaza in Irvine. Did we mention the pizzas are cooked in less than 3-minutes?
“Pizza is hotter and faster than ever and we’re excited to be able to bring in another first-in-O.C. restaurant to the community,” said Stacie Ellis, director of marketing for Irvine Company Retail Properties.
MOD’s artisan-style pizzas are Made-On-Demand (MOD), using organic fresh-pressed dough and signature sauces. Customers can create their own pizzas and salads, using any combination of 30 featured toppings, or they can choose from a menu of MOD classics. Pizzas are the same price regardless of the number of toppings and are hand-cooked in an 800-degree oven under three minutes. MOD also offers local draft beers, wine, sweet and savory knots, milkshakes, and house-made lemonades and iced teas.
The company was founded by a small group of entrepreneurs led by Scott and Ally Svenson, who were inspired by their love of Italian street-style pizza, coupled with their desire for authentic and affordable fast casual dining options for their busy family. MOD is “simple food for complex times”.
“The fast casual pizza niche did not exist when we opened the first MOD in Seattle in 2008,” said Scott Svenson, co-founder and CEO. “It’s been an absolute thrill to watch customers embrace the MOD brand and our unique approach to pizza and we hope Orange County will as well.”
- MOD Irvine will be located in Westpark Plaza at 3965 Alton Parkway The restaurant will open at 5 p.m. December 18, 2013 with a celebration for the community.
- The first 52 customers in line on opening day will receive a free pizza or salad. In addition, there will be a “Free Pizza for a Year” drawing, an old-fashioned photo booth, product samplings and giveaways.
