Moving Forward Together

The past 10 weeks have been a testament to the power of community and partnership – and over the Memorial Day Weekend, our County’s diligence was rewarded with the opportunity to return to some of our favorite places.

Irvine Company has been working hard behind the scenes to carefully prepare for this moment as we welcome more of our customers and community back to our properties. Part of this effort included establishing new comprehensive cleaning and sanitizing protocols, as well as the installation of helpful physical distancing signage.

An equally important part of this effort involves the impressive work performed by our tenants. These businesses showed resourcefulness every step of the way.

Angelina’s Pizzeria in Los Olivos Marketplace is one example of small business ingenuity. Owner Philip Fusco, a native of Naples, Italy, and his wife Sho, always dreamt of serving the traditional pizza found in Naples. This requires importing authentic ingredients from Italy and cooking the pizza in a wood burning oven.

When news came that their restaurant could only serve delivery and take-out, the Fusco’s faced an unusual challenge for a pizzeria: the integrity of the thin crust did not hold up well during delivery. They learned a special box had been invented specifically to deliver Napoletana pizza. Problem solved.

“Delivery was new to us, and now we plan to keep it going for our customers who enjoy eating at home,” said Ms. Fusco.

They are also expanding their outdoor dining area to allow for comfortable physical distancing as guests return to Angelina’s. “Nothing replaces seeing familiar faces,” they said.

As we reconnect with more of our friends and neighbors – whether that is for work or for pleasure – the long-standing partnership between businesses like Angelina’s and the community will be the foundation for how we move forward together.
