New Island Club Lounge At Island Hotel Newport Beach Delivers Exlcusive Services, Comfort And Connectivity For Today’s Executive And Leisure Traveler

Elite Services, Breathtaking Ocean Views, & Sophisticated Design Offers Exceptional Experience

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (Oct. 21, 2013) – Island Hotel Newport Beach today announced the grand opening of the Island Club, the only luxury hotel club lounge experience available in the Newport Coastal area.  Designed to reflect the evolving needs of today’s executive and leisure traveler, the 2,000-square-foot lounge situated on the hotel’s 20th floor offers a sophisticated and professional environment resulting from a careful balance of elite services, high-end design, and technology.

“We created the Club lounge experience to meet the evolving needs and highly discriminating tastes of our executive and leisure travelers,” said Donald Stamets, general manager of Island Hotel Newport Beach. “As the economy continues to strengthen and spending on premium travel services increases, our guests will not be without the level of service they expect and need as part of their travel lifestyle.  We’re very pleased to offer hotel guests an experience where they can stay connected, relax or be productive while enjoying spectacular views in a sophisticated and professional environment.”

The Island Club lounge experience is available to Island Hotel Newport Beach guests only at an additional rate of $65 per day.

Elite Service & Sophisticated Design
Offering sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and Newport Coast, Island Club lounge guests are greeted by hand-picked Club Ambassadors who are highly trained to arrange services ranging from curbside check-ins, shoe shines, dry cleaning and travel to assisting guests with their technology needs or making reservations at a local hot spot. In addition, Club Ambassadors will assist guests in making selections from the hotel’s pillow menu (green tea infused, buckwheat, feather, foam, memory foam, etc), make arrangements for one-on-one styling advice from the hotel’s personal shopper at Fashion Island, and book the hotel’s car service to any Newport Center Drive location.  Club Lounge guests also receive turndown service every night, and access to all wet areas within The Spa at Island Hotel.

As guests step into the Island Club lounge, plush conversational seating areas are inviting opportunities for relaxation and conversation. Several quiet areas have also been positioned throughout the lounge so guests can catch up on work in a peaceful environment. Guests interested in the ultimate television viewing experience will love the media room designed as an enclave within the lounge.  Modeled after a plush living-room, the media room is anchored by an 80-inch LED smart TV and guests can enjoy snacks as they watch news, entertainment or sports programming. A 50-title DVD library featuring both classics and current releases, along with an expanded periodicals selection of news, business and lifestyle titles, are also available in the media room for guests to borrow and enjoy while at the hotel.

Staying Connected & Secure
Because staying connected and secure is important to today’s executive and luxury traveler, the Island Club lounge is outfitted with 40 USB ports and charging stations so guests never run out of power.  WiFi access capacity in the lounge will accommodate up to 125 concurrent devices (mobile phones, computers, projectors, iPods, tablets, etc) through Beamflex technology with adaptive signal steering at an adapted range. This means signals remain strong and guests stay connected without compromising speed.  Streamed connections within the lounge will also remain secure thanks to the three-levels of isolation each signal receives to prevent hacking or unauthorized scans while devices are in use. Bandwidth allocation of 20mbs megabits per second for uploading and downloading within the lounge gives guests the bandwidth to stream and download seamlessly and continuously. The lounge is also equipped with four 50-inch LED Smart TVs and wireless headsets.

Bruce Baltin, senior vice president at PKF Consulting said, “We’ve all gone mobile and most of us are working wirelessly.  Being able to work wireless in a space that’s comfortable and offers a social environment is quickly becoming a more popular work method for today’s executive travelers. Lounge experiences delivering value and service at an incremental fee are definitely gaining in popularity with executive travelers.”

Refresh, Relax & Re-nourish
Today’s executive and luxury leisure travelers have discriminating tastes, especially when it comes to their culinary expectations.  Often times hectic meeting or travel schedules prevent travelers from easy access to both healthy and delicious selections.

With this in mind, Executive Chef David Man has designed California-inspired menu experiences throughout the day the most discriminating guests will enjoy.  Breakfast selections include California Eggs Benedict (Sun), mini smoked salmon bagel sandwiches (Fri) to breakfast meats, grains and sliced fruits.  Midday selections that keep it light feature a selection of fresh salads (from chopped to Asian Chicken salad), specialty wraps with grilled steak (Fri), Tuna (Tues), and grilled veggies (Mon), along with artisan sandwiches and specialty soups.  Early evening selections (‘wine-down’) to enjoy with the spectacular sunsets include Ahi Tuna Tartar (Sat), Beef Wellingtons (Fri), and Prosciutto Wrapped Shrimp (Tues) accompanied by artisan flat breads made daily. Complementary wine, champagne, beer, juices and sodas are served throughout the day.

“While high-end, personalized service is the foundation for our new Island Club lounge experience, we also know how important reliable connectively and a comfortable environment is to our guests when traveling.  Ensuring we deliver the best experience to every guest, including our tech-savvy Club Ambassadors who will help guests with their every need, means they can stay connected, relaxed, and productive in a sophisticated and professional setting simply an elevator away,” said Stamets
