IRVINE, Calif., (Dec 18, 2013) — Oak Creek Golf Club, a Tom Fazio-designed public golf course owned and operated by Irvine Company, announced today the facility has been selected as a top 50 public practice range for 2013 by the Golf Range Association of America (GRAA). This is the second consecutive year Oak Creek has been selected as a Golf Range Association of America Top 50 Range in the public category.
“It’s a great honor for Oak Creek to be recognized once again as home to one of the very best public practice ranges in the nation,” said Rob Tanaka, director of operations at Oak Creek. “This is an especially meaningful recognition that validates our mission of offering programs for golfers of all ability levels to help them improve while truly enjoying the game.”
More than 500 public golf ranges competed for the honor and designation by GRAA. Public ranges were evaluated on distinguishing factors including general appearance, how the range enhances the overall golfing experience at the course, value as a teaching platform and how it helps players improve their game while having fun.
The Oak Creek practice range features 65 natural turf tees, a nine-acre all-terrain landing area, two practice greens and a large practice bunker. It’s also home to the Oak Creek Golf Academy where beginners to veteran golfers take private, semi-private or group clinic-style lessons that can include club fittings and video analysis. The Oak Creek PGA-trained golf professionals provide sessions on full swing, chipping and pitching, putting, golf etiquette and equipment.
As a top 50 GRAA public range winner, Oak Creek will be listed in the January 2014 issue of Golf Range Magazine and on the GolfRange.org website. Oak Creek will also have the honor of displaying a special GRAA 2013 Top 50 Public Range logo on their website and on other marketing materials.
In 2013, Oak Creek was ranked as having the best practice facility, the third best opening hole, the third best greens, and the fourth best course in Orange County in the Readers Choice category by Southland Golf Magazine.
