Pelican Hill® along the coast of Newport Beach celebrated the harvesting and pressing of its signature olive oil for the second consecutive year. On Saturday, October 29, hundreds of guests attended the Resort’s inaugural Festa Dell’Autunno, a one-day “autumn festival” featuring traditional Italian food, art, entertainment and olive oil pressing demonstrations.
“For the first time, our signature olive oil is available for retail in the Resort’s Caffé boutique, just as the holiday gift giving season arrives,” said Giuseppe Lama, Managing Director of Pelican Hill. “The Resort’s first annual Italian street festival and second annual olive harvest mark an exciting time of year, as the late fall season leads into holidays.”
Pelican Hill’s signature olive oil is available to guests and locals for purchase this fall and holiday season. The Resort has partnered with Temecula Olive Oil Company to create 100% California extra virgin olive oil, along with signature olive oil soaps in orange blossom, lavender and lemon verbena varieties.
Along Pelican Hill’s olive tree-lined lanes, Festa Dell’Autunno guests learned about olive harvesting and pressing from Olive Master Thom Curry, owner of Temecula Olive Oil Company. Providing an educational, interactive epicurean experience, guests observed a live olive pressing and tasted oil fresh from the presses.
“From fresh olive oils and fine cheeses to eye-catching automobiles and traditional art, all of our partners from throughout Southern California have collectively made Festa Dell’Autunno an unforgettable experience that we look forward to expanding in the years to come,” said Lama.
Along with olive pressing, guests also enjoyed wine tasting, live opera and accordion music, an espresso lounge, a gelato bar, pizza making, pasta cooking demonstrations and informal cheese presentations by expert Chef Starr Cornwell. A Motori Italiani automobile exhibition featured automobiles from Lamborghini Newport Beach, Maserati/ Ferrari of Newport Beach and Orange Coast Fiat. Southern California street painting artists, including Chris Bennett, Mark Cummings, Lorelle Miller and Melanie Stimmel Van Latum, created traditional chalk paintings highlighting harvest season themes.

At Andrea Ristorante, Pelican Hill’s rustic olive oil will be featured in a special collaborative six-course menu by Chef Luca Cesarini of Andrea and Chef Suzette Gresham-Tognetti of San Francisco’s Michelin-rated Acquerello restaurant. Featured dishes include Insalata of Shaved Root Vegetables, Tepid "Mosaic" of Monkfish Carpaccio, Green Onion Tagliarini, Lobster Panzerotti, Olive oil Poached Walu, Char Grilled American Kobe Beef Bavette, Crispy Breast of Duck and Torta di Mele with Dry Plumped Fruit and Rosemary Gelato. $95 per person (excluding tax and gratuity)
At Pelican Grill and Coliseum Pool & Grill, a la carte seasonal lunch and dinner items will highlight the fresh flavors of locally sourced Irvine Ranch® ingredients. At Pelican Grill, Chef Chang features olive-inspired dishes, including Organic Baby Beet Salad, Hamachi Crudo, Slow Braised Jidori Chicken, Olive Oil Poached Alaskan King Salmon and Baked Apple Tart with Olive Oil Gelato with Lemon Thyme Crumble. At Coliseum Pool & Grill, Chef Marc presents Olive Roasted Lamb, Olive Oil Polenta and Stewed Irvine Ranch Vegetables.
