Orange County’s Largest Indian Market To Open In Irvine

The San Diego-based Indian grocer will open this fall at The Market Place

TUSTIN, Calif., May 2015Namaste Plaza, a growing chain of Indian markets, has signed a lease to open its first Orange County location at The Market Place in October. It will be the 10th location for Namaste Plaza, with eight stores in the Bay Area and one in San Diego.

“We look forward to welcoming Namaste Plaza to Orange County,” said Easther Liu, Chief Marketing Officer for Irvine Company Retail Properties. “O.C. is home to so many cultures and that’s reflected in the number of ethnic markets at our retail centers – Namaste Plaza will be a great addition to The Market Place.”

The 6,700-square-foot market, which will be O.C.’s largest Indian grocer, will feature more than 3,000 Indian goods and products, from fresh vegetables to an extensive assortment of whole and ground spices, chutneys and rice. At-home cooks can find everything they need to prepare an authentic Indian meal, from turmeric, masala and curry powders to an array of flours, cooking pastes and ghee, a clarified butter that’s widely used in Indian cuisine. The store will also have a small deli offering fresh and savory pastries called samosas, in addition to a variety of Indian confections and cakes.

Namaste Plaza will be located on the Irvine side of The Market Place, near Target.
