Pelican Hill Announces Festa Dell’autunno Wine Dinner Guest Chef From Italy’s Acclaimed San Domenico Ristorante

Chef Massimiliano Mascia Showcases Italian Gastronomic Traditions during Five-Star Resort’s Festa dell’Autunno Wine Dinner at Southern California’s Andrea Ristorante

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., June 24, 2014 – As a special epicurean experience to begin the fourth annual Festa dell’Autunno weekend, Andrea Ristorante at The Resort at Pelican Hill® will feature guest Chef Massimiliano Mascia from Ristorante San Domenico, one of Italy’s finest Michelin Star restaurants in Imola. Chef Mascia’s multi-course dinner menu, inspired by the freshest autumn ingredients, will be available exclusively on the evening of Friday, October 10.

“Chef Mascia’s authentic culinary creations are deeply rooted in the Italian gastronomic tradition, which his family has passionately celebrated since Bologna’s acclaimed Ristorante San Domenico opened more than four decades ago,” said Pelican Hill Managing Director Giuseppe Lama. “Growing up in a family-owned restaurant, Chef Mascia worked alongside his grandparents since his teenage years and now leads San Domenico’s culinary arts and kitchen operations.”

Ristorante San Domenico, a two-star Michelin restaurant, offers epicureans “the possibility to know and appreciate the astounding cuisine of Italian nobles.” As Chef Mascia strives to serve his guests pure joy, his kitchen thrives on continuous evolution in “techniques at the service of tradition.” Andrea will showcase Chef Mascia’s authentic cuisine with seasonal dishes, including Egg Yolk Ravioli San Domenico, Rosemary Roasted Quail and Stuzzichini featuring robiola cheese, polenta and white truffle fondue. Over the weekend of October 10-12, The Resort at Pelican Hill® presents Festa dell’Autunno, an autumn festival that brings the traditions of Italy to Southern California’s own Tuscan seaside village. Pelican Hill’s children’s retreat presents Festa dell’Autunno weekend activities for locals and guests alike. Designed for ages 4-12, Camp Pelican’s Children’s Carnival includes special afternoon and evening sessions:

  • Afternoon Session from noon – 5 p.m.
    Children learn traditional Italian dancing, create their own artistic masterpieces of hand-decorated flags and Venetian masks, and dress up in classic Renaissance-style costumes for a Street Festa procession under the guidance of Italian flag performers!

  • Evening Session from 6 – 10 p.m.
    Resort chefs teach the art of pizza-making, from rolling dough and making sauce to grating cheese and adding toppings. This interactive evening of fun with food also includes popcorn and a movie.

Festa weekend concludes with an ocean-view outdoor brunch, including endless Prosecco mimosas and performances by a jazz trio.
