Pelican Hill Golf Academy Expands Pga Instruction Team And Spring Academy Clinics, Including New Competitive Teen Program

NEWPORT BEACH, CA – January 6, 2014 – Pelican Hill Golf Club®, located at The Resort at Pelican Hill® along the coast of Newport Beach in Southern California, introduces new Golf Academy programs during the spring 2014 season. From the Spring Golf Tune-Up Package to the Competitive Teens Junior Academy, Pelican Hill Golf Academy provides top instruction led by Golf Magazine Top 100 Teacher Glenn Deck.

A new addition to Pelican Hill Golf Academy, PGA Certified Instructor Tim Mitchell brings his expertise in teen instruction to this spring’s programs. Designed for intermediate and advanced players ages 12-16, Mitchell’s Competitive Teens Junior Academy prepares junior golfers for tournaments, competitive rounds, high school team play and entry-level Southern California PGA tour events. Additionally, Mitchell teams up with Deck and premium golf equipment manufacturer PING this April to offer a special Master the Greens Putting Clinic at Pelican Hill during the weekend before The Masters Tournament.

Spring Golf Tune-Up Package
As spectacular spring weather arrives in Newport Coast, Pelican Hill Golf Academy invites you to tune up your game with PGA professionals. Designed for groups of two to four golfers, this experience includes two nights of accommodations and two rounds of golf per person, with professional forecaddie, one tune-up lesson per group and complimentary golf club rentals. All stays at Pelican Hill include complimentary parking, Internet access and use of pools, fitness centers and spa amenities.

Fazio Unlimited Package
Select Bungalow or Villa accommodations with a two-night minimum stay. Enjoy unlimited golf rounds for one guest on three courses – Pelican Hill’s Ocean North and Ocean South, and Oak Creek – designed by renowned course architect Tom Fazio. This experience includes professional forecaddie (on both Pelican Hill courses), golf car, golf club rentals and complimentary valet parking. Competitive Teens Junior Academy
Sundays from 9 – 11 a.m. on March 9 & 23, April 13 & 27 and May 4 & 18
Designed for junior golfers ages 12-16, this Academy prepares intermediate and advanced players for tournaments, competitive rounds, high school team play and entry-level Southern California PGA tour events. Led by Certified Golf Instructor Tim Mitchell, PGA, instruction clinics focus on different aspects of the game, including putting, full swing, pitching and chipping, shot shaping, tournament preparation and more. Students should be able to score under 45 (boys) and under 50 (girls) for nine holes. Class size is limited to 5 students per clinic.
$60 per student per session, or $300 per student for entire series; pre-registration required

Master the Greens Putting Clinic with PING
Sunday, April 6 from 1 – 4:30 p.m.
With The Masters Tournament coming up, Pelican Hill Golf Academy’s Top 100 Teacher Glenn Deck and Tim Mitchell, PGA will inspire you to master the greens like the pros. Limited to just 10 students, this special clinic focuses on putting and green reading essentials to help develop a stroke that starts your ball on your target line, improve your speed control and learn how to read slopes and breaks better. Plus, you will receive a custom PING putter fitting to matches you and your stroke.

Two-Day Weekend Golf School
Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. & Sundays from 9 a.m. until conclusion of afternoon playing lesson on May 17 & 18 and June 7 & 8
This two-day school is designed to benefit every aspect of your golf game, including sound fundamentals for your full swing, short game, course management and mental skills.  Instruction features a small group setting with a 4-to-1 student-to-teacher ratio. A personal teaching tool is included.

One-Day Short Game Scoring School
Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 26, May 17, June 7 & 21
Learn how to turn three shots into two shots and lower your golf scores. Two-thirds of your golf game is played from 75 yards and in, so this school is all about the short game. Improve your putting, chipping, pitching and bunker play to help lower your scores. A special scoring tool is included.
$475 per student, with lunch included; pre-registration required

Half-Day Lower Your Scores Schools

Putting School
Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on April 26, May 17, June 7 & 21
Putting accounts for 40% percent of your golf game, and it is the easiest part of the game.  Improve your score by making more putts. We focus on your setup for correct flow lines, alignment, distance control, feel and green reading.
$225 per student per half-day clinic; pre-registration required

Chipping, Pitching & Bunker School
Saturdays from 1 – 4 p.m. on April 26, May 17, June 7 & 21
Two-thirds of your golf game is played from 75 yards and in. Improve your scoring shots with focus on chipping, pitching, flop and bunker play. We all miss a few greens, so learn how to recover and make more pars on the golf course.
$225 per student per half-day clinic; pre-registration required

Full Swing School
Sundays from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on April 19, May 18, June 8 & 22
Improve your ball striking with focus on the full swing fundamentals, key movements in the swing that match up to you and your natural motion. So if your swing needs a little help, let us improve your motion to ensure you’re having more fun out on the course.
$225 per student per half-day clinic; pre-registration required

Playing School
Sunday afternoons beginning one hour after twilight (times vary each month) on May 18 and June 8
Improve your course management and scoring skills out on the course. Learn how to make the most out of your game by improving your course management and mental skills. You don’t have to have a perfect golf swing, but knowing how to manage your game and playing with your strengths can produce lower scores out on the course.
$325 per student per half-day clinic; pre-registration required

Adult & Junior Golfer Offer
Get one complimentary junior golfer (ages 8-18) evening round with each full-paid adult evening round, exclusively for same-day tee time bookings. Golf cart included; forecaddie not included.
