They’re donning water wings and swim fins, chasing after dive rings and floating toys, and making new friends at every turn. As summer approaches, the children of Portola Springs® are beginning to trade school time for pool time, and everybody’s having a ball!
The Irvine village of Portola Springs has two pool parks offering summer fun for the entire family. Both feature a Junior Olympic-sized swimming pool, children’s wading pool, bubbling spa, poolside cabanas and shade structures. Silverado Park and Lomas Valley Park invite residents to swim, splash, sun, and socialize only moments from home.
In addition, Silverado Park includes a basketball court, tennis courts, and barbecue/picnic areas. Other facilities available at Lomas Valley Park include a half basketball court, open play turf, play structures designed for ages 5 through 12, and a barbecue/picnic area. Both parks have community buildings ideal for community events and private get-togethers, such as birthday parties and family reunions.
“The great American hometowns of yesteryear are alive and well in Irvine, and Portola Springs offers the kind of traditional family lifestyle that today’s homebuyers are looking for,” said Suzanne Maddalon, senior director of marketing and research for Irvine Community Development Company LLC, an affiliate of The Irvine Company LLC. “This is a place where kids can be kids and where beautiful parks and other gathering centers provide backdrops for fun, recreation and getting to know your neighbors.”
Four additional parks are also open in Portola Springs for summertime enjoyment, welcoming families to spend time together amid additional sports courts, barbecue areas, play lawns, and imaginatively themed climbing structures.
Portola Springs is planned to include a total of 18 neighborhood parks, a 25-acre community park with lighted athletic fields, and an 18,000-square-foot multipurpose building.
“This one-of-a-kind village is intricately planned to make outdoor fun and proximity to nature an integral part of the lifestyle,” Maddalon said. “Not only do residents benefit from all the village’s current and future parks, but more than 20 miles of trails provide amazing pathways for exploration on foot, bicycle and horseback.”
The Portola Springs trails wind this way and that, up and down and all around, allowing residents to be out their front doors and into nature in a matter of minutes. One village trail offers hiking, horseback riding or mountain biking up to the scenic Lomas Ridge Open Space. Others meander to Tomato Springs, a riparian habitat, and various village landmarks.
One of the most popular routes is a lighted pedestrian and bike trail that accesses the Jeffrey Open Space Trail, a 325-foot wide, 117-acre public corridor that links The Irvine Ranch’s northern and southern open spaces.
Portola Springs’ “best of both worlds” location also is convenient to great schools, shopping, dining, and entertainment – all the other essentials for today’s families.
The first of Portola Springs’ two proposed elementary schools is expected to open next year. These schools will be part of the highly regarded Irvine Unified School District.
Nearby shopping destinations include the recently opened Woodbury Town Center just down the street and the popular regional centers of Irvine Spectrum Center® and The Market Place, both only a quick freeway drive away.
