Second Taco Rosa Opens at The Market Place

Ivan Calderon, founder of the renowned Orange County casual restaurants Taco Rosa and Taco Mesa, along with restaurateur Rene Fuentes, has opened the second full service Taco Rosa at The Market Place in Irvine. Taco Rosa, with an original location at Newport Hills Shopping Center in Newport Beach, offers a unique style of authentic, healthy, Mexican cuisine, set in a casual, cantina-style setting.

According to Calderon and Fuentes, the menu is rooted in pre-Columbian cooking fused with Spanish, French and Southwestern culinary influences, all in a casual cantina-style setting. The restaurant is currently serving dinner, but will be serving breakfast, lunch and dinner by April 1.

Guests will be greeted by the aroma of melting chocolate and entertained by a churro station, where handmade fresh churros will be served with a rich chocolate sauce from a chocolate fountain display.

The menu features items such as Baked Carnitas Pibil, Salmon Tacos with Papaya butter sauce, Blackened Chicken Breast Burrito, Parrilladas (large combination platters for two or more), Mar y Tierra (Lobster and Filet Mignon), along with Fiestas Mexicanas Specials, a gastronomic celebration of traditional Mexican feasts.

The menu also offers a variety of enchiladas, tacos, tostadas, burritos, quesadillas and tortas. Taco Rosa also features kids meals and desserts such as homemade flan and sopapillas (puffed pastries served with vanilla ice cream.)

In the cantina, mixed drinks are made with fresh, hand-squeezed juices, and Taco Rosa is the only known restaurant to use daily homemade sweet and sour mix for its margaritas. The restaurant will feature an all Latino wine list, which will offer a unique collection of Chilean, Argentinean, Italian, Spanish wines.

Taco Rosa will also be open for breakfast, offering a menu including Huevos Rancheros, Machaca con Huevos (Slowly dried shredded beef seasoned with pepper, onion, and tomato, grilled with scrambled eggs and served with pinto beans and tortillas) and Omelet de Mariscos (a fluffy egg omelet filled with lobster, crab and shrimp and topped with a light tequila-lime cream sauce.)

Taco Rosa will be open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. When the restaurant is operating in full, the hours will be 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. The restaurant is located at 13792 Jamboree Rd., at El Camino Real, on the Irvine side of The Market Place. For more information, call (714) 505-6080.
