As social members of the Shady Canyon Golf Club®, families can enjoy privileges that include access to some of the finest private dining, entertaining and meeting facilities in Southern California. This exclusive Club, open to residents and non-residents alike, is the social and recreational heart of the magnificent Shady Canyon® residential and golf reserve in the City of Irvine.
“The Shady Canyon Golf Club is in a class by itself!” said Bob Leenhouts, the Club’s general manager. “Surrounded by the rugged, rural landscape that gives the Shady Canyon community its unique and exclusive hideaway ambiance, the Club offers resort-caliber facilities rivaling the world’s finest country clubs and spas. Our social members can take advantage of many wonderful indoor and outdoor spaces to play, dine, entertain, pamper themselves, do business, or simply relax with family and friends.”
Limited use of the Main Clubhouse and full use of the Swim and Fitness Center is available to social members of the Shady Canyon Golf Club. Additionally, social members benefit from limited access to the club’s Tom Fazio-designed, 18-hole golf course when accompanied by golf members.
Like a sprawling country estate perched on a crest above the golf course, the Main Clubhouse encompasses graceful pillars and archways, lofty cupolas and timeless stonework in an enchanting design inspired by the work of Wallace Neff. Spanning approximately 53,000 square feet, the Clubhouse interior opens to reveal more archways, a stunning fireplace, dramatically high beamed ceilings, and other magnificent wood detailing.
Among the Clubhouse’s richly varied dining areas are a mixed grille and bar, private dining rooms that members can reserve for special occasions, and several outdoor dining terraces. Boasting both a French chef and a sommelier, the Clubhouse complements gourmet cuisine with an extensive wine selection for lunch and dinner.
While a spacious and comfortably furnished living room invites members to socialize after dining or any other time, a private boardroom is available for business meetings. The Clubhouse also offers a fully stocked golf shop.
Separating the Main Clubhouse from the Swim and Fitness Center is the Great Lawn, a rolling expanse of emerald green ideally suited to weddings and other exclusive alfresco events for up to 300 guests.
The Shady Canyon Swim and Fitness Center features a Junior Olympic-sized swimming pool, a children’s wading pool and a relaxing spa, all sharing an expansive pool deck with views of the surrounding hills and open space. The Center’s 6,700-square-foot Santa Barbara colonial-style building houses state-of-the-art conditioning equipment, spa treatment rooms, and men’s and women’s locker rooms with steam rooms. Members can enjoy personal fitness training with the Center’s professional fitness staff, participate in numerous available classes, such as Spin, Pilates and Yoga, and indulge themselves with spa treatments by skin and body care professionals.
Equally enjoyable for social members of the Shady Canyon Golf Club are the Club’s year-round adult and family-oriented special events. Among the popular get-togethers are holiday functions, the Harvest Festival, the Annual Wine Festival, and Casino Night. Poolside events, children’s summer camps, swimming lessons, and a competitive swim team are also part of the fun.
Added Leenhouts: “Shady Canyon combines natural splendor with timeless architecture and unparalleled recreational and social amenities. A social membership in the Shady Canyon Golf Club is a marvelous way to enjoy nearly all that this exceptional setting has to offer.”
Nestled amid sprawling hillsides and rugged ridgelines, yet not far from it all, Shady Canyon is a prestigious, gated enclave inspired by old-world aesthetics. Majestic oaks and sycamores – both vintage trees and others newly planted – enrich the homesites and shared community spaces, along with dozens of grasses, shrubs, sages, and succulents. Also contributing to the serene rural ambiance are rolled curbs and subtle lighting that accentuates neighborhood walkways and shared gathering places. Low walls, bridges and creek beds incorporate a variety of natural materials, including stone harvested from the land on which Shady Canyon resides.
The community is surrounded by 16,000 acres of natural sanctuary extending to the Pacific Ocean and managed by The Nature Conservancy as part of the Irvine Ranch Land Reserve®.
