One of Southern California’s most beautiful Christmas trees arrived at Fashion Island in Newport Beach Monday in predawn hours. At approximately 7 a.m., a flatbed truck slowly brought the 115 ft. white fir into Bloomingdale’s Courtyard where it was meticulously lifted into place with a large crane.
The tree was removed from a designated timber area in Mt. Shasta earlier this week. After the tree is positioned in its holiday home, it is then filled with branches that had to be removed to safely transport the tree to Southern California. Over the next two weeks, the tree will be decorated with 23,000 white lights, bows and ornaments. After the holidays, the tree will be recycled as it is every year.
The spectacular 115 ft. Christmas tree will be lit in a ceremony on Friday, November 21 and Saturday, November 22 at 6 p.m. both evenings. The free musical extravaganza will star Broadway performer Cathy Rigby and more than 60 students from the acclaimed California Conservatory of the Arts.
