Summer Art Sundays at Fashion Island in July

Get up close to two of Orange County’s most distinctive arts showcases at Fashion Island for two Sundays this July

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (July 6, 2016) – Fashion Island will again partner with Orange County’s beloved Festival of Arts and Pageant of the Masters for a special event series this summer.

“We’re proud to support the arts at Fashion Island,” said Easther Liu, chief marketing officer for Irvine Company Retail Properties. “This is a terrific opportunity to get up close to two of coastal Orange County’s most renowned arts events.”

From noon to 3 p.m. July 24, the Bloomingdale’s Courtyard lawn will be filled with works from Festival of Arts’ artists who will be showcasing their craft. Participating artists include: Mary Aslin, Susan Cox, Shelley Rapp Evans, Mark L. Hendrickson, Kent Kahlen, Tashia R. Peterman, Hugo Rivera, Sherry Salito-Forsen, Tom Swimm, Afsaneh Taghavi, Marie Tippets and Nikita Young.

Additionally, there will be a make-up demonstration from the famed Pageant of the Masters as pageant makeup director Ally Doherty will transform a cast member into legendary artist Frida Kahlo. Frida Kahlo, along with Diego Rivera, will be one of the couples featured in the 2016 Pageant of the Masters. This year’s theme, “Partners,” will explore the compelling collaborations that led to the creation of unforgettable artworks, be it a provocative or passionate tale of some of art’s most dynamic duos, all presented through a unique, theatrical production of “living pictures.”

The following week, from noon to 3 p.m. July 31 at Fashion Island, the Atrium lawn will transform into a creative playground for children, with free arts & crafts activities.

Shoppers can also enjoy complimentary light bites and refreshments from select Fashion Island restaurants as they enjoy art on display.
