The Resort at Pelican Hill Debuts Great Room Social Hour And Executive Chef’s Dinner Show Kitchen This Winter

Seasonal Epicurean Experiences and Resort Activities Include Boutique Art Shows, Valentine’s Dining, Sports Viewing Specials and Etiquette Programs

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., October 15, 2014 – As a new year begins, The Resort at Pelican Hill® presents new additions to its winter series of activities, entertainment and dining. Newport Beach’s only Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Resort welcomes locals and Resort guests alike to enjoy live music, seasonally inspired cuisine and engaging experiences for all ages.

“We invite Resort guests and locals to join us this winter for Pelican Hill’s new Great Room Social Hour, offering live music and special entertainment every Thursday and Friday evening,” said Pelican Hill Managing Director Giuseppe Lama. “On select dates, we will feature boutique art shows, fireside etiquette chats, special food samplings and wine tastings during Social Hour.”

Boutique Art Exhibits
Thursdays, January 15, February 19 & March 19 from 4 – 7 p.m.
During Great Room Social Hour, Dawson Cole Fine Art presents boutique art exhibits featuring sculptures, paintings and sketches, as well as art discussions, live music and complimentary menu tastings from Pelican Hill chefs. Themed monthly exhibits include Modern Art & Italy on January 15, Impressionism on February 19 and From Old Masters to Modern Masters on March 19.

Great Room Social Hour
Thursdays & Fridays from 5-6 p.m.
As the sun sets over Newport Coast, join us for weekly live entertainment, table games, wine and cheese pairings, small bites and desserts.

Executive Chef’s Dinner Show Kitchen
Friday, March 6 at 6 p.m.
Join Executive Chef Jean-Pierre Dubray for an engaging evening of cooking demonstrations, a multi-course dinner and lively music. Mingle with epicurean enthusiasts at long, communal tables, while Chef Dubray and his ensemble of skilled cooks take the stage to narrate a masterful preparation of interesting, inspired cuisine right before your eyes. Take home a complimentary culinary gift bag, including a collection of the evening’s recipes.

Afternoon Tea & Children’s Story Time
January 17, February 21 & March 21
Families are invited to attend Afternoon Tea in the Great Room from 2 – 3:30 p.m., with special performances of classic children’s story books.

Children’s Resort Etiquette Classes
Sundays, January 11, February 8 and March 8 from 2:30 – 5:30 p.m.
Children ages 7-12 are cordially invited to expand their understanding of social, travel and dining etiquette with a fun and educational class. Led by Kathleen Cover, Founder and President of The Etiquette School of Beverly Hills and Newport Beach, certified by the prestigious American School of Protocol, each three-hour course offers a positive, relaxed and approachable setting.
$125 per child per class; limited to 12 children per class; reservations required.

Couples’ Etiquette Soirées
Sundays, January 25, February 22 and March 22 from 3 – 5 p.m.
Polish your dining and social etiquette during this two-hour soirée led by Kathleen Cover, Founder and President of The Etiquette School of Beverly Hills and Newport Beach, certified by the prestigious American School of Protocol. Enjoy Prosecco and hors d’oeuvres, followed by dinner and dessert, while learning about favorable first impressions, party planning, gracious hosting, making conversation, written correspondence, domestic and continental fine dining, and so much more.

Fireside Etiquette Chats
Fridays, January 2, February 6 & March 6 from 5 – 6:30 p.m.

Prosecco, coffee or tea is available for purchase during this interactive group Q&A, with etiquette tips and amusing stories by the grand fireplace in the Resort’s Great Room.

February 14
An intimate and sensual dining experience, Pelican Hill’s popular Dinner of the Senses stimulates each of the five senses of sight, touch, taste, scent and sound. Created by Coliseum Pool & Grill’s Chef Micah, the seven-course menu for two features “his and hers” selections. Served in a private poolside cabana, each course is eaten by hand without the use of utensils, tapping into the desire to nourish one another and share cherished moments together. Customized music, flowers and décor are available upon request. Advance reservations strongly recommended.

Il Menu dell’ Amore
February 13-15
Andrea presents a special Italian lovers’ menu, offering four courses with “his and hers” choices. Recognized as one of America’s Top 10 Most Romantic Restaurants by GAYOT and Southern California’s Most Romantic Restaurant by Los Angeles Times readers, Andrea offers Valentine’s diners a casually elegant ambiance, heated ocean-view terrace, charming live guitarist and exquisite selection of Italian wines.

Chef Luke designs a special three-course menu just for two, with selections designed for him and for her. Exclusively available to Bungalow and Villa guests, Chef Jack’s globally inspired small plates experience features special Valentine’s dishes with lobster, caviar and lamb. Sample a variety of Asian and Italian selections, presented in sharable petite portions and paired with wines, beer or specialty cocktails.

At the Caffè, Pastry Chef Jeff presents traditional and modern seasonal treats. Pelican Grill Tasting Table
The Pelican Grill’s new Tasting Table invites epicureans to be seated right next to the restaurant’s open-concept kitchen in the main dining room. This interactive, chef-led dining experience presents guests with exclusive daily dishes featuring the freshest seasonal ingredients and creative presentations. Pelican Grill chefs prepare the day’s selection of prix fixe specialties before guest’s eyes, then pass each course over the kitchen counter to the adjacent rustic, wooden table set for up to 10 guests.
