The Resort at Pelican Hill Debuts Wedding Etiquette Soirèes and Spring Trunk Shows, as Easter and Mother’s Day Brunches Return

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.,  January 21, 2015 – The Resort at Pelican Hill® invites locals and Resort guests alike to enjoy live entertainment, seasonally inspired cuisine and engaging activities for all ages this spring. Newport Beach’s only Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Resort debuts Wedding Etiquette Soirées and Spring Trunk Shows, while annual epicurean events like Traditional Easter Brunch and Mother’s Day Ballroom Brunch return for the spring holidays.

“We are reenergizing the Resort’s most popular experiences, while activating brand new programming throughout Pelican Hill, but especially in the Main Estate’s Great Room, Caffé and Andrea Ristorante and Bar,” said Pelican Hill Managing Director Giuseppe Lama. “As spring approaches, we will unveil engaging new ways to gather, linger, savor and celebrate right here at the social and corporate center of Newport Coast.”

Wedding Etiquette Soirées
Sundays, April 26, May 31 and June 28 from 3 – 5:30 p.m. (autumn dates also available)
For brides, grooms and their parents, as well as anyone who wishes to polish their dining and social etiquette, this fun and interactive program features wedding etiquette traditions, favorable first impressions, gracious hosting, written correspondence, domestic and continental fine dining and a special spa etiquette talk and tour. Enjoy Prosecco and hors d’oeuvres, followed by dinner and dessert, including tips for wedding cake cutting as a couple. Each soirée is led by Kathleen Cover, Founder and President of The Etiquette School of Beverly Hills and Newport Beach, certified by the prestigious American School of Protocol.
$195 per person per class; individuals welcome to attend; reservations required.

Children’s Resort Etiquette Classes
Sundays, April 12, May 17 and June 14 from 2:30 – 5:30 p.m.
Children ages 7-12 are cordially invited to expand their understanding of social, travel and dining etiquette with a fun and educational class. Led by Kathleen Cover, Founder and President of The Etiquette School of Beverly Hills and Newport Beach, certified by the prestigious American School of Protocol, each three-hour course offers a positive, relaxed and approachable setting.
$125 per child per class; limited to 12 children per class; reservations required.

Great Room Social Hour
Every Thursday and Friday from 5-6 p.m., join us for weekly live entertainment, table games, beverage specials and small bites, plus Fireside Etiquette Chats, Fashion Trunk Shows and Boutique Art Exhibits on select dates.

Fireside Etiquette Chats
Fridays, April 3, May 1 & June 5 from 5 – 6:30 p.m.
Join us for casual, cozy conversations with Kathleen Cover, Founder and President of The Etiquette School of Beverly Hills and Newport Beach, certified by the prestigious American School of Protocol. Prosecco, coffee or tea is available for purchase during this interactive group Q&A, with etiquette tips and amusing stories by the grand fireplace in the Resort’s Great Room.

Boutique Art Exhibits
Thursdays, April 9, May 7 & June 11 from 4 – 7 p.m.
During Great Room Social Hour, Dawson Cole Fine Art presents boutique art exhibits featuring sculptures, paintings and sketches, as well as art discussions, live music and complimentary menu tastings from Pelican Hill chefs.

Spring Trunk Shows
Fridays, April 17, May 15 & June 19 from 5 – 6:30 p.m.
Fashion Island brings the best of the season to the Great Room with monthly pop-up trunk shows. Personal shopping professionals present spring fashion trends.

Afternoon Tea & Children’s Story Time
April 18, May 16 and June 20
Families are invited to attend Afternoon Tea in the Great Room from 2 – 3:30 p.m., with special performances of classic children’s story books.

Traditional Easter Brunch
Sunday, April 5
Amidst Pacific Ocean panoramas, the little ones delight in an Easter egg hunt, Easter Bunny visits, face painting and balloon shaping on the picturesque Rotunda Lawn. In Mar Vista’s grand ballroom from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Executive Chef Jean-Pierre Dubray presents traditional brunch favorites, with California and Tuscan accents.

Mother’s Day Ballroom Brunch

Celebrate your family’s leading lady with a lovely chef-crafted brunch and spectacular ocean views in Mar Vista’s grand ballroom from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Children are invited to participate in activities and mothers receive a special gift with our compliments!

Mother’s Day Weekend Tea
Friday, May 8 – Sunday, May 10
Delight in the elegance of traditional afternoon tea time in the Great Room, featuring a classical harpist and scenic ocean views. Teas, coffees, sweets, sandwiches and wines by the glass are available as a prix fixe menu from 1 to 5 p.m.

On Sunday, April 5, Andrea Ristorante presents traditional Easter cuisine with a prix fixe lunch menu from noon to 4 p.m. and á la carte Easter dinner specials beginning at 5 p.m., in addition to award-winning traditional Northern Italian cuisine and fine wines.

Easter at Pelican Grill
Chef Luke creates a special selection of Easter á la carte dishes, available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., as well as Easter dinner specials and a featured lounge menu available from 3 to 10 p.m. on Sunday, April 5.

Easter Brunch at Coliseum Pool & Grill
Chef Micah creates an extraordinary brunch buffet, available on Sunday, April 5 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., and special á la carte Easter dinner specials.

The Masters Menu
April 6-10
As you watch the pros compete from Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia, enjoy Chef Luke’s selection of Southern dishes available exclusively during The Masters. Pelican Grill’s golf-inspired Masters Menu includes specials such as Fairway Fried Chicken Birdie, Shrimp ‘n’ Bunker Grits and Pimento Grilled Cheese Sandwich, a Masters tradition. Featured beverage selections include Sweet Tea, Mint Julep, Arnold Palmer and Pickled Okra Bloody Mary.

As spring asparagus is harvested at the Irvine Ranch®, Andrea offers an á la carte tasting menu featuring the seasonal green vegetable. Savor locally sourced ingredients in Northern Italian dishes, such as hand-made tagliolini with bay scallops, green asparagus and black summer truffle, or green asparagus soup with soft-poached quail egg, parmesan cheese crisp, taggiasca olive dust and peperoncino oil.

The Pelican Grill’s Tasting Table invites epicureans to be seated right next to the restaurant’s open-concept kitchen in the main dining room. This interactive, chef-led dining experience presents guests with exclusive daily dishes featuring the freshest seasonal ingredients and creative presentations. Pelican Grill chefs prepare the day’s selection of prix fixe specialties before guest’s eyes, then pass each course over the kitchen counter to the adjacent rustic, wooden table set for up to 10 guests. As they converse with the chef across the pass counter, diners savor Napa-inspired cuisine paired with fine California wines.

Coliseum Kids, Team Moms & Coach Dads
With endless pizza, pasta and gelato for just $15* per child, Coliseum Pool & Grill invites families to stop in for lunch or dinner any day of the week. On busy school nights and during sports season, we give team moms and coach dads a chance to enjoy some quality time with the kids in a spectacular ocean-view setting. Chef Micah offers a variety of wholesome, tasty choices that keep the entire family happy and healthy.

Afternoon Tea in the Great Room
Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 3:30 p.m., delight in traditional tea service with light selections both savory and sweet. Gather by our grand fireplace or in an ocean-view alcove, as our live harpist performs.
