The 31.5-acre master-planned Village at Irvine Spectrum Center, developed by The Irvine Company Apartment Communities (TICAC) and designed by MVE & Partners, was awarded a prestigious Pillars of the Industry Award at The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Awards Gala, held on April 2nd in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Among thousands of entries, the NAHB bestowed the Pillars of the Industry award in the category of “Best Mixed-Use Site Plan” upon The Village, home to 3,000 residents, adjacent to the 1.1 million-square-foot Irvine Spectrum Center regional shopping center and thousands of jobs. The Village was also selected as a finalist in the “Best Rental Apartment Community” category.
The Washington, D.C.-based NAHB presents the Pillars of the Industry Awards annually to recognize the best in multi-unit residential design, development, marketing and operations. The Pillars are widely viewed as the most esteemed national awards in the multifamily industry.
The Village at Irvine Spectrum Center is but the latest jewel on the crown of collaborations between TICAC and MVE, a partnership that has resulted in over 45 industry awards for acclaimed projects such as The Colony at Fashion Island in Newport Beach, CA, and Villa Siena in Irvine, CA.
“MVE and TICAC have enjoyed a long and successful relationship spanning more than 20 years and through a collaborative process, we have created many significant and vibrant communities,” said Rick Emsiek, AIA, president of MVE & Partners. “The success of The Village resulted from joining talented professionals from diverse disciplines together with a common goal: create a pedestrian-oriented mixed-use community in which residents can live, work, and play.”
“Our goal was to create a special community that offered a new way of living,” said Max Gardner, president of The Irvine Company Apartment Communities. “We’ve worked hard to encourage residents to interact through our resort-like design – and unique offering of activities. Residents say we’ve exceeded their expectations. They love living here, and we couldn’t be more pleased.”
This award marks the ninth Pillars of the Industry award won by MVE & Partners since 2001. In addition to The Village at Irvine Spectrum Center, another successful MVE project, The Plaza Irvine, was selected as a finalist this year in the “Best High-Rise Condominium Community” category.
