Local chef Daniel Shemtob returns home to Irvine with TLT Food’s first O.C. location
IRVINE, Calif., September 2014 – Following its successful Los Angeles debut, TLT Food is coming to The Irvine Spectrum in Orange County this November.
TLT Food pays homage to Chef Daniel Shemtob’s beginnings in the food truck scene with The Lime Truck. He traveled the country with his restaurant on wheels and quickly gained national recognition as the winner of The Food Network’s Great Food Truck Race in 2011. TLT Food’s ever-evolving menu is anchored by The Lime Truck’s most beloved items combined with all new offerings enabled by a brick-and-mortar dining destination.
The opening of his first Orange County restaurant is a special homecoming for Irvine-native Shemtob and his business partner Murray Wishengrad. Wishengrad is also a local entrepreneur who has lived in Newport Beach for the past 30 years. Both Shemtob and Wishengrad are actively involved in the management of the fast growing concept.
“We started the truck in Irvine, I grew up in Irvine and we’ve always had an amazing amount of local support in Orange County,” said Shemtob. “It’s actually pretty surreal for me to be opening at the Irvine Spectrum Center. I used to go there when I was in 7th grade and never would have imagined that I’d open a restaurant right there 12 years later.”
The TLT Food menu features flavorful Californian fusion eats such as beef short rib quesadillas, seared ahi tuna tacos, pork belly nachos and more delivering a diverse and modern fast-casual dining experience. Craft beer, wine and agave-infused limeades top off the playful menu.
From wheels to walls, the new Irvine location will also feature the original Lime Truck staff, the same crew that has worked alongside Shemtob since the beginning.
“TLT Food showcases the best of Southern California’s array of flavors and many of our food truck favorites,” said Stacie Ellis, senior director of marketing for Irvine Company Retail Properties. “We’re excited to bring the talents of a local Orange County-raised chef back to the community.”
TLT Food will be located near Barnes & Noble and will be open daily from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. Dishes range from $4 to $12. Information: tltfood.com or 949.727.1414.
