Pampered poodles, cute lil¡¦ calico cats, loyal Labradors, rascally rabbits, lovable mutts and more celebrated the first-ever Woodbury Pet Parade earlier this month in the incredible Irvine village of Woodbury.
Woodbury residents and homeshoppers alike brought their pets and friends for a day of family-oriented fun and games at the Pet Parade, held at the Great Lawn of the Woodbury Commons, situated in the heart of Woodbury.
¡§This was the perfect event for pets and their human companions — and it truly showcased the joyful spirit of community and social interaction that defines the Woodbury lifestyle,¡¨ said Suzanne Maddalon, senior director of marketing and research for Irvine Community Development Company LLC, an affiliate of The Irvine Company LLC.
Several activities took place during the Pet Parade, various pets were decked out in their pet costumes, and children decorated their bicycles for the official Pet Parade, which circled the block around The Commons.
¡§This is one of many events we¡¦ve conducted this year at Woodbury, including an Easter Egg Hunt, a 4th of July party, a Bike Rodeo, and plenty of poolside activities at The Club, the residents-only, resort-like recreational facility in The Commons,¡¨ said Kevin Chudy, general manager of the Woodbury Community Association. ¡§The Commons includes both public and private facilities for recreation and socializing, which combined, really contribute to the village¡¦s friendly hometown atmosphere.¡¨
The Commons is Woodbury¡¦s expansive centerpiece for village activity and includes The Club plus a 10-acre public park, and Woodbury Elementary School, which opened last month as part of the highly acclaimed Irvine Unified School District.
The Club at Woodbury features a Junior Olympic-sized swimming pool with a grass seating area for spectators, a lagoon pool with ¡§beach¡¨ entry that includes a water garden and wading pool, and an inviting resort pool and spa with cabanas and barbecues. Also featured are a lighted basketball court with gated entry, four lighted tennis courts, a volleyball court, sunny courtyards and other social seating areas, and an outdoor fireplace. Two multi-purpose buildings, one with a catering kitchen, provide ideal places for residents to host private parties.
Woodbury Community Park, a 10-acre City of Irvine park, offers a soccer field, two baseball diamonds, two lighted full-sized basketball courts, a tot lot, picnic tables, play areas, and a community center building staffed by city parks personnel.
Numerous additional inviting outdoor spaces are scattered throughout Woodbury¡¦s various residential districts, offering very special places to explore. Plus, for close-to-home shopping, dining and services, Woodbury Town Center is located an easy walk or bicycle ride from every neighborhood.
¡§Woodbury is full of unique little parks, playgrounds, gardens, or just places to rest your feet, read a book, and enjoy the charm of this extraordinary village,¡¨ said Suzanne Maddalon. ¡§Events like the Woodbury Pet Parade provide the perfect surroundings for residents and homeshoppers to experience the wonderful lifestyle of Woodbury.¡¨
