Irvine Co.’s Santa Clara Gateway office buildings awarded LEED Gold

Gold Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification awarded by U.S. Green Building Council for the buildings’ sustainability.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (Sept. 22, 2014) — Santa Clara Gateway office buildings have earned a prestigious Gold Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, a designation recognizing the property as one of the region’s most high-performing, sustainable campuses.

The honor from the Washington, D.C.-based U.S. Green Building Council comes in the New Construction: Core and Shell Development category, which scores properties on the use of sustainable materials, water and energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality, location and transportation and overall innovation.

Located along the Great America Corridor near Levi’s Stadium, public transit and the 237 freeway, Santa Clara Gateway is a 911,000-square-foot, six-building elite office campus in the heart of Silicon Valley.

Santa Clara Gateway’s environmentally friendly features include floor-to-ceiling windows that filter heat and maximize natural light, and energy efficient lighting, heating, cooling and ventilation. High-efficiency plumbing fixtures and landscape irrigation systems conserve water at a critical time for California. Recycling programs divert waste from the region’s landfills, while green cleaning policies are used throughout the campus.

Santa Clara Gateway promotes alternative commuting with onsite electric vehicle charging stations, priority parking for hybrid vehicles and bike lockers throughout the campus. Nearby light-rail and bus service is provided by the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority.
