New 400 Spectrum Center tower opens 40-percent pre-leased; Cylance signs six-floor lease, takes building-top signage

Company that prevents cyber attacks using artificial intelligence leases 135,000 square feet

IRVINE, Calif. (Sept. 13, 2017) — Irvine Company celebrated the opening of 400 Spectrum Center today with city and business leaders and announced that cybersecurity artificial intelligence innovator Cylance has signed a six-floor lease at the new 21-story tower in the heart of Irvine Spectrum.

Cylance is moving from Irvine Towers on Von Karman Avenue, also owned by Irvine Company. Its name will adorn the top of the building and be visible to hundreds of thousands of motorists who commute daily on the 5 and 405 freeways.

The high-rise’s opening comes a year after Irvine Company opened 200 Spectrum Center Drive, its sister building, which is today 93-percent leased. 400 Spectrum Center is 40-percent pre-leased, including 22,000 square feet of space for communications platform innovator SendGrid.

The remaining seven million feet of Irvine Company office space in Irvine Spectrum is 97-percent leased, which includes Spectrum Skyline towers 20 and 40 Pacifica and 100 Spectrum Center Drive.

“The fact that we have such dynamic growth customers like Cylance and SendGrid partnering with us before we even opened underscores the fact that Irvine Spectrum in general—and 200 and 400 Spectrum Center specifically—represents the ultimate address for forward-thinking companies,” said Steve Case, executive vice president, Irvine Company Office Properties. “We are thrilled that they will join the industry-leaders in technology, automotive, law, finance and more who have chosen 200 Spectrum Center as their home. Cylance is a dynamic, fast-growing company that is putting Orange County on the map as a leading hub for cybersecurity innovation.”

Irvine Company also announced two additional 400 Spectrum Center leases in its unique ReadyNow® Offices, which are expertly designed suites offering fast move-in and limited disruption for growing and established businesses. The customers are:

  • Kieckhafer Schiffer & Co, LLP, which has four offices on the West Coast providing tax, assurance and consulting services, leased 6,000 square feet.
  • CrossCountry Mortgage Inc., which was on the Inc. 5000 List of America’s Fastest Growing Private Companies four years in a row (2012–2015), leased a 5,700 square feet office.

“It is a thrill to stand in 400 Spectrum Center and see the full view of our wonderful city,” Irvine Mayor Don Wagner said. “We are reminded of what a great place Irvine is to live, work, and play.”

Cylance officials said they were drawn to the quality of the building, the outdoor spaces and the unparalleled opportunities for their employees to innovate.

They also noted Irvine Company’s vast portfolio of vibrant workplace communities.

The company first leased 11,000 square feet at Discovery Business Center in January of 2013. It currently occupies 41,000 square feet at Irvine Towers and is now leasing 135,000 square feet at 400 Spectrum Center Drive.

“Cylance is recruiting for some of the most in-demand skill sets on the planet,” said Shaun Walsh senior vice president of marketing at Cylance. “Because a world-class facility and nearby amenities do factor into employment decisions, choosing a state-of-the-art facility in the right location is a strategic move for us.”

The new high-rises are in the center of one of California’s most successful live-work-play communities. The vibrant workplace communities are adjacent to a variety of housing choices, including five Irvine Company luxury apartment communities, and Irvine Spectrum Center, which offers 1.2 million square feet of retail, restaurant and entertainment options to seamlessly integrate work and life.

Both 200 and 400 Spectrum Center offer two Irvine Company signature amenities: The Commons, an open air gathering place featuring casual workspaces, an outdoor living room and complimentary Wi-Fi; and KINETIC, which blends a state-of-the-art onsite fitness center and wellness services, and is across the street from the St. Joseph Hoag Health Wellness Corner at The Village apartment homes. Showers, lockers and covered bicycle storage enable outdoor fitness as well as easy commuting by bike.

200 Spectrum Center customers include Mazda North America Operations, gaming leader Curse Inc., workspace innovator WeWork, wireless technology infrastructure company Crown Castle and global software leader Greenwave Systems.

Both 200 and 400 Spectrum Center feature the sleek, modern design of world-renowned architect Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, with 10-foot, floor-to-ceiling glass providing superior natural light and unobscured 360-degree views that make the nearly 430,000-square-foot buildings stunning from inside and out.
