Sugar Rush Sweet Shoppe coming soon to Los Olivos Marketplace in Irvine

First location for unique, upscale candy shop opens in July in Irvine’s newest retail center

IRVINE, Calif. (April 20, 2016) — Sugar Rush Sweet Shoppe, an upscale candy boutique offering premium confections, will open its first brick-and-mortar location at Irvine’s Los Olivos Marketplace in July.

The 876-square-foot space will offer a distinguished selection of candies based on quality and distinctiveness, including artisan chocolates, truffles, handmade lollipops, taffy and candies, and an assortment of the finest brands in European and international sweets. Sugar Rush Sweet Shoppe will also feature its own private label products.

From a single bag of hand-spun cotton candy and an individual handmade candy spoon, to colorful Jordan almonds sold by the pound and exquisitely wrapped boxes of Mademoiselle de Margaux chocolate twigs, Sugar Rush Sweet Shoppe has treats to fit every budget and satisfy every sweet tooth for kids and adults alike.

The store will be stylishly designed with decorative apothecary glass jars and lace-trimmed baskets for single or by-the-scoop sweets and literary quotes positioned throughout the space to reflect the worldly ambiance of the shop.

Confections will be displayed in distinctive sections that cater to customers’ refined tastes, including “American Classics,” featuring brands like Ghiradelli, Godiva and Hammonds; “European Specialties,” including Charbonnel et Walker, Neuhaus and Perugina; and “Eastern Indulgences,” featuring Turkish delights and Middle Eastern maammoul.

For more health-conscious consumers or those with specific dietary restrictions, the shop will also have a “Simple Pleasures” section filled with natural, non-GMO and organic sweets, as well as nut-free and gluten-free options.

After a community bake sale with their three children where their unique, handmade treats quickly sold out, husband and wife duo and longtime Orange County residents Omaima and Mo Zayed, were inspired to create Sugar Rush Sweet Shoppe.

“After a very fun and very successful bake sale with our children, the idea for Sugar Rush was hatched,” said Omaima Zayed, shop owner who is also a lecturer in French and Humanities at UC Irvine. “We wanted to bring together an exclusive selection of high-quality confections and sweets that consumers cannot easily find elsewhere, and certainly not at one shop. Los Olivos Marketplace was a perfect location for our first shop with its easily accessible location and proximity to many local communities and families.”

Los Olivos Marketplace will serve the adjacent residential and office communities in the Irvine Spectrum, one of Southern California’s most successful master-planned, mixed-use communities that provides a sustainable mix of retail, office, residential and hotels to create a walkable community where people can shop, live, work, and play.
