Tech companies expand in La Jolla UTC, leasing over 115,000 square feet at Irvine Company buildings

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (August 13, 2018) – Irvine Company announced today that four more tech companies are expanding in La Jolla UTC.

One is a mobile app developer, another is a project management software company and the third is a software solutions provider. The companies leased a combined 51,000 square feet at La Jolla Gateway, Nobel Corporate Plaza and The Plaza, more than doubling the space they currently occupy.

The fourth is technology-as-a-service-provider AbacusNext. The company moved in June to the new three-story, 65,000-square-foot Eastgate Summit, which is located on a hilltop above the 805 and 5 freeways and features signage visible to hundreds of thousands of daily motorists. AbacusNext initially leased a 3,800-square-foot Irvine Company La Jolla UTC office in 2007 and has since expanded four times.

“La Jolla UTC has emerged as an outstanding hub of innovation,” said John Turner, regional vice president, Irvine Company Office Properties. “Forward-thinking companies  are attracted to everything La Jolla has to offer – proximity to a world-class university, access to talent, unrivaled weather and vibrant workplace communities that offer outdoor workspaces and every other convenience companies need to inspire their employees and spur innovation and growth.”

Housecall Pro, a mobile application developer, will soon occupy 13,000 square feet at Nobel Corporate Plaza.

Wrike, a collaborative work management platform, will take 18,300 square feet at La Jolla Gateway. The company moved into Irvine Company offices in 2015, and has expanded rapidly over the years, more than tripling its leased footprint in San Diego.

Fairway Technologies, experts in solving businesses’ toughest technology challenges, are moving from La Jolla Gateway to a full 19,200-square-foot floor at The Plaza.

“Irvine Company creates world-class workplace communities and we’re excited to move our offices to La Jolla UTC,” said Brett Humphrey, chief executive officer of Fairway Technologies. “We appreciate Irvine Company’s commitment to fostering technology innovation in San Diego via generous assistance to EvoNexus, southern California’s largest technology incubator. Their support directly benefits local businesses, the community, and promotes the rapidly growing technology sector in San Diego. We’re looking forward to growing our company here. ”

Irvine Co. has invested more than $150 million in new office buildings in La Jolla UTC, including its 15-floor One La Jolla Center and its newest low-rise offices, Eastgate Terrace and Eastgate Summit. The company has also invested more than $40 million to enhance shared common areas with innovative new services and programmed events.
