The Patio Marketplace to bring elevated workplace dining experience to 400 Spectrum Center

The Patio Group, based in San Diego, is known for its welcoming atmosphere, award-winning menu and vibrant dining experience

IRVINE, Calif. (June 18, 2018) — Irvine Company announced today that The Patio Group, operator of award-winning restaurant concepts from San Diego, has signed a lease to open a versatile, dynamic dining space in fall 2018 at 400 Spectrum Center Drive, the new 21-story tower in the heart of Irvine Spectrum.

Called The Patio Marketplace, the café will be located on the ground floor and connect to an adjacent conference center, creating a unique meeting experience because the restaurant will literally be next door. The café also connects to The Commons, an open-air “patio” with casual workspaces and complimentary WiFi to offer diners and building customers an indoor-outdoor dining, meeting and event experience.

The Patio Marketplace will be the first Patio Group restaurant to feature an exhibition kitchen to provide diners a more personal and interactive experience.

“We are thrilled to expand The Patio Marketplace experience in Irvine Spectrum, which has become one of the most desirable locations to operate a business in Southern California,” said Brian LaGrange of The Patio Group, the restaurant division of American National Investments, Inc.

Led by Chef Amol Thanky, the menu is influenced by the spirit of classic European cafes as well as contemporary Coastal California cuisine, and sourced with sustainable, seasonal, and quality ingredients.

Catering to sophisticated Orange County diners, the café will offer a dynamic menu, evolving with the seasons and the tastes of local foodies. Signature dishes will include: Grilled Chicken Bowl with toasted farro, roasted squash, sautéed chard, pickled apples, dried cherries and an herb citrus vinaigrette, and the Confit Beef Burrito made with a spinach tortilla, refried black beans, brown rice, homemade pico de gallo and four-cheese blend.

Signature craft cocktails, beer and wine, and snacks such as crispy calamari with herbs and meyer lemon aioli will be offered daily during happy hour.  The café’s coffee is brewed from small-batch, single-origin beans from its award winning Swell Coffee Co.

Balance is the forte of Chef Thanky’s cuisine, thanks to a decade of fine-dining experience that includes lead cook duties at Restaurant Gary Danko, a Michelin-starred restaurant in San Francisco.

“We are taking workplace dining to the next level by bringing an elevated culinary experience to 400 Spectrum Center,” said Steve Case, executive vice president of Irvine Company Office Properties. “The Patio Marketplace is a new kind of office café that will delight the customers – a foodie’s destination an elevator ride away.”

The new tower is located in the center of one of California’s most successful live-work-play communities, adjacent to a variety of housing choices and Irvine Spectrum Center, which offers 1.2 million square feet of retail, restaurant and entertainment options to seamlessly integrate work and life.

The towers feature the sleek, modern design of world-renowned architect Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, with 10-foot, floor-to-ceiling glass providing superior natural light and unobscured 360-degree views that make the buildings stunning from inside and out. The new tower, which was designed to accommodate a range of companies, opened in September and is already 60% leased, and 200 Spectrum Center, which opened last year, is fully leased.
